Effective 1/5/22 Abolished: 8515 New York, New York to Atlantic City, New Jersey 8518 Atlantic City Casinos, New Jersey to New York, New York This leaves the last Atlantic City departure at 5PM. Doesn't really seem conductive to day travelers. Plus it seems like they raise the price for a one way trip on that corridor signifcantly. Seems like GH quit there Effective 1/12/22 Abolished: 1013 New York, New York to Miami, Florida 1018 Miami, Florida to New York, New York Well there goes the second Miami - New York trip. They could've at least keep the portion between Richmond and Miami, and force everyone to connect from the NY-Atlanta bus at Richmond. but I guess they are focused on reductions for now. 1041 New York, New York to Atlanta, Georgia 1046 Atlanta, Georgia to New York, New York Once again, they could've saved the Richmond- ATL portion. The southbound, I am okay with it going, but northbound, it leaves a pretty big gap between early morning and late at night On 1/12/2022 at 11:15 PM, ns8401 said: 1145 Chicago, Illinois to Atlanta, Georgia 1151 Chicago Amtrak, Illinois to Atlanta, Georgia Once again cutting 1145 and 1151 leaves a large gap for local travel 1258 Mobile, Alabama to Orlando, Florida 1285 Atlanta, Georgia to Houston, Texas 1607 Washington D.C. to Chicago, Illinois I wonder if its better for Greyhound to directly serve NYC - Chicago instead of NYC - Detroit, and force a transfer for Detroit passengers instead of Chicago passengers. That being said this change does decrease some mile duplication between Cleveland and Pittsburgh (since they have new trips between Cleveland- Chicago and Pittsburgh - Washington DC except for Tues/Wed) Though the way they set it up is kind of smart... the NY- Detroit bus will be the same bus which will do the new Detroit - Cleveland bus connecting to the Chicago - Washington bus at Cleveland, with a Cleveland crew doing out and back round trip presumably On 1/12/2022 at 11:15 PM, ns8401 said: 1688 Los Angeles, California to New York, New York 1695 New York, New York to Los Angeles, California Back to one transcon on I-70 west of St Louis I see. Case in point, some Boston trips makes a detour to White Plain, some makes local stop along CT Coast, some goes via Hartford. Very few express trips left. Same goes for NY - Was, most of it continue south, and one taking 6 hour going via Havre De Grace Same goes with NY-Philly, with addition of Newark, Mt Laurel and Camden on some trips Also this cut leave only one NY-Providence trip remaining and two towards NYC 4723 Minneapolis, Minnesota to Chicago, Illinois 4918 Chicago, Illinois to Minneapolis, Minnesota Why do I have a feeling Greyhound doesn't want to serve this corridor at all. (same thing goes for Spokane - Portland/Seattle) Wouldn't surprise me if Jefferson Lines takes over the whole corridor in the near future. These cuts leave only the interlined connections anyways 6012 Glendale Transit Center, California to Las Vegas, Nevada 6039 Las Vegas, Nevada to Los Angeles, California Greyhound has been retreating in this corridor for years now. Wouldn't surprise me if they reduce it to only the trips continuing east of LA 6315 Phoenix, Arizona to San Diego, California 6318 San Diego, California to Phoenix, Arizona No more direct San Diego to Phoenix service? I guess forcing everyone to Los Angeles is a "winning" strategy in attracting bus ridership 6818 Los Angeles, California to Fresno, California 6841 Fresno, California to Los Angeles, California This leaves a large gap in the Central Valley in the morning-afternoon period. Although Flix does have one schedule that kind of fits the gap 4414 Detroit, Michigan to New York, New York -- Toledo, Ohio has been discontinued. Will operate via Allentown, Pennsylvania. 4427 New York, New York to Detroit, Michigan -- Will operate via Allentown, Pennsylvania Interesting... http://extranet.greyhound.com/revsup/Schedules2/bulletins/02-22.pdf Some thoughts in bold above Lots of days of operations cuts as well. That being said 3570 Richmond-NYC via Del-Mar-Va time change is a positive improvement. Instead of traveling overnight, this is now a day bus, although the southbound remains a overnight run That being said, I am hoping these changes are just seasonal winter reductions, although it is unknown if it will ever be bought back, because it seems like every time there is a reduction, less is brought back when there is a increase next season

The driver for 4427 from New York comes in at 930am and turns on 4428 at 1155am back to Cleveland. The driver of 4429 from Cleveland arrives around 330pm and takes 4414 back to Cleveland. These are indeed from the Cleveland pool and the runs always were but it used to be the driver would turn on their rest in the evening (500pm departure) after arriving at 740am. 4414 and 4427 flipped stops for some reason. So 4414 does what 4427 did before the change and vice versa. We were all scratching our heads on cutting Toledo out of a mid evening (545pm-ish) schedule to Cleveland but there it is. 4414 now runs straight from Detroit to Cleveland as an express instead of stopping at Toledo, Elyria and Sandusky. The flip side is that 4427 was an express from Cleveland to Detroit but now it stops at Sandusky, Elyria and Toledo on its way in which makes it come in 2 hours later now. There hasn't been a connection from Indian Trails to Greyhound to go directly to Cleveland and points east since August. This new schedule actually moves the two buses 15 minutes further apart. All of that traffic rides the second Indian Trails schedule and transfers in Detroit to go to Columbus-Pittsburgh and beyond now on 1093. Columbus remains an extremely busy focal point for passengers headed out east and out west. Charlotte, North Carolina has become another hub for of all places... upstate New York and the Eastern Seaboard(!). I've also had some people going to Connecticut and Youngstown, Ohio that made the jump in Charleston, West Virginia of all places. As for Minneapolis... I bet you Jefferson gets Milwaukee to Minneapolis and Greyhound hangs onto Milwaukee-Chicago. I've noticed they seem to axe a Minneapolis run and add one just to Milwaukee in its place. Hard to believe it's down to only one bus now on that run.

Interesting you mentioned that, not sure if its easier to move the schedule earlier on IT's side or later on GLI's side. I would think its easier to move the schedule it later on GLI's side. They probably could move 4414 Detroit - NY 1 hour later, and the 4669 Pitt- Was schedule 1 hour later. It would make sense than sending everyone going East to Columbus OH. It seems like if you are going to (from Bay City) New York/Washington, GH send you to Columbus for the 1684 to the east Chicago - GH sends you via Kalamazoo where you will transfer from IT to 4459 (I'm pretty sure Indian Trail had a route to Chicago from Grand Rapids at one time) Buffalo, NY- GH sends you on 1039 to Charleston, WV for the Barons bus back north to Cleveland/Buffalo Syracuse NY - GH sends you Columbus, OH for 1684 to Harrisburg, for Fullington up to Syracuse, or 1684 to NY, then back up to Syracuse Cleveland, OH- GH sends you on 1039 for 1684 to Pittsburgh, for next days 1645 Wash-Chicago schedule With the connection at Detroit, GH could reroute all East Coast passengers on 4414, instead of sending everyone down to Columbus and onto the transcontinental 1683/1684. It should make sense considering that they have a beautiful terminal there at Cleveland, anyways On 1/15/2022 at 10:14 PM, ns8401 said: As for Minneapolis... They may hang onto Milwaukee for a while, until they decide that is not worth it as well and just cut everything north of Chicago. At this point, they might as well, and give JL the entire corridor from Chicago - Seattle (like Burlington from Chicago - Denver via Omaha)

It would make sense than sending everyone going East to Columbus OH. That's not a bad idea. Our two buses a day into Detroit run up to flint over to Grand Rapids and down to Kalamazoo and there are two counterparts doing the reverse. You noted correctly below that we had 3 buses a day into Chicago at one time. Starting in October 2020 we truncated those at Benton Harbor for a Greyhound connection to and from Chicago. This was pretty quickly moved to the larger bus/train station in Kalamazoo. The times we use are grounded by the connection to and from Greyhound in Kalamazoo. There is very little wiggle room for us except in responding to their changes to the Detroit-Chicago service. GLI would be far more likely to make a move than we would be at the Detroit end I would think. That 4459 connection in Kalamazoo can be good for as many as 30-35 people headed west some days! The connection from 4576 to IT at Kalamazoo at 11am is the major counterpart and that's the IT bus that ends up in Detroit at 505, 20 minutes after 4414 leaves for Cleveland. You can see why its not so easy for us to maneuver with tight Greyhound connections on both ends. It seems like if you are going to (from Bay City) New York/Washington, GH send you to Columbus for the 1684 to the east Chicago - GH sends you via Kalamazoo where you will transfer from IT to 4459 (I'm pretty sure Indian Trail had a route to Chicago from Grand Rapids at one time) Buffalo, NY- GH sends you on 1093 to Charleston, WV for the Barons bus back north to Cleveland/Buffalo Syracuse NY - GH sends you Columbus, OH for 1684 to Harrisburg, for Fullington up to Syracuse, or 1684 to NY, then back up to Syracuse Cleveland, OH- GH sends you on 1093 for 1684 to Pittsburgh, for next days 1645 Wash-Chicago schedule With the connection at Detroit, GH could reroute all East Coast passengers on 4414, instead of sending everyone down to Columbus and onto the transcontinental 1683/1684. It should make sense considering that they have a beautiful terminal there at Cleveland, anyways. This was the way it was before the fall bid changed everything for both companies. IT broke the connection because making it down there by 500pm proved to be nearly impossible despite being scheduled for 430pm (30 minute minimum connection time in the computer). They were pretty good at the Detroit station about tracking us and begging the Cleveland driver to stay but pulling in at 458 or 459 every day will make you sweat as a driver. The traffic going that way could be 15-20 people too. Greyhound did nothing to adjust after that and traffic rides 1093 or in some rare cases goes west to Chicago to go east again. I had a guy a few weeks ago get on in East Lansing on my way west going to Vermont... via 4459 and Chicago. Surprised the hell out of me. There is still two, one to connect to JL via South Dakota, I-90, and one to connect with JL via Fargo/Billing via I-94. They may hang onto Milwaukee for a while, until they decide that is not worth it as well and just cut everything north of Chicago. Why go into an extremely expensive place if you don't have to? My comments above in bold.

So a rudimentary look through the old Russels Guides and map supplements I’ve collected shows Greyhound and something called “Scenic Minnesota Lines Co.” serving Hibbing in both 1976 and 1982. Greyhounds service was Minneapolis to Hibbing and the other company was running Virginia, Minnesota to Minneapolis. By 1988 Scenic Minnesota was gone and “Four Star Lines” ran a similar service between Virginia and Minneapolis. Greyhound service remained in place. By 1992, after the strike and bankruptcy of 1990, the only service to Hibbing was by “Tri-Action Tours Inc.” of St. Paul running the old Greyhound route. My newest map book is dated Spring 1995 and still shows Tri-Action running to Hibbing. So it looks like the 1990 strike and bankruptcy ended Greyhounds run to its birthplace, a casualty like so many other routes were. According to MNDOT the subsidized service Jefferson Lines runs from Duluth to Grand Rapids via Hibbing began in 2013 so there was a period with NO bus service to Hibbing after Tri-Action went away.
