History

  • Jefferson Transportation Company was founded in 1919 to provide convenient intercity bus travel along the Jefferson Highway, which ran from Winnipeg, MB to New Orleans, LA.[1]
  • Renamed Jefferson Lines in 1968.
  • Bought Jack Rabbit Lines in 2000.
  • Bought Karst Stage in 2025.

Jefferson Lines coaches are available for charter trips.

Scheduled

Regular Route

Jefferson operates regularly scheduled service to many locations, large and small, throughout the Midwest United States.

Some service in Minnesota is funded by the Federal Transit Administration's Section 5311 grant.

Service to Canada ended on March 7, 2018.

Jefferson Express/Rocket Rider

A newer service called Rocket Rider provides scheduled service between major destinations with fewer stops than a typical route. In addition, special buses featuring the Jefferson Express Rocket Rider livery are used, and extra perks such as free radio, movies, and wifi are provided.[2]

Maintenance

Bus maintenance service is provided by Jefferson at its Minneapolis location.[3]

Locations

Jefferson Lines operates scheduled service to many locations in the Midwest and central areas of the United States.[4] Many of these stops are at service stations, local area transit agencies, or colleges and universities.
