And, from a transitfan perspective, that's pretty cool. Man, I would come to NYC just for this if I could!
pccstreetcar4549
well, when YRT had a bus shortage, they had used one of CTHFs buses a fishbowl from st johns, they just put yrt logo on it , timmins transit used it later and even repainted into timinns colours

R. McConnell
What buses are in this fleet? I know the MTA already has many older highfloor buses in regular service. You can see somewhat of a representation of the MTA Bus museum fleet here. These buses were from the previous private companies that were taken over by MTA Bus. There's more to the museum fleet than just that -- New York City Transit has a number of preserved buses, some almost 100 years old.
NYC BUS FAN
I don't think the MTA Bus museum fleet will hit the streets because this was announced by Howard Roberts who is the president of NYCT.

stm_5307N
Five GMC and Flxible Fishbowls will be running on the M34,42 and 50 starting this Monday. They will only run during rush hours. A bit more specific would be that a total of 5 buses only will be used, which are made up of 2 GMC New Looks and 3 Flxible New Looks. This this the info and which buses will be used: Dates: December 10th through the 28th Times: Rush Hours ONLY (7:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM) Routes: M-34, M-42 and M-50 Crosstown lines. Three Buses will be rotated each use period, one on each line, so not all 5 buses will be out at once. Also the buses will not come out on days of inclement weather. The buses to be used: 1959 GMC TDH5301 #100 1962 GMC TDH5301 #2151 1964 Flxible F2D6V401 #5117 1970 Flxible 111CC-D5-1 #4727 1973 Flxible 53102 #7340" "From what I was told, other buses were worked on but deemed not roadworthy." Note: In the subway the R9 subway cars (pre WWII IND subway cars) are running between 2nd Ave and Queens Plaza (V service) on weekends.

R. McConnell
Is that #1263 double decker in service? Wow I would love to ride that! No, it was parked in a prominent location (as was another museum double-decker) for viewing. I guess they don't want to take their chances with it.
