MCI delivers J4500 to Canada

L-MCI-2.jpg

Red Deer, Alberta, Canada's Frontier Bus Lines took delivery of its first new coach, an MCI J4500, after building a successful business with a fleet of pre-owned coaches.

"It's very exciting to have our very first new coach," said Laura Budd, who runs the business with her husband, Keith. "Our customers absolutely love it."

The delivery brings the company fleet to 11 coaches. Frontier is located in the picturesque Aspen Parkland, a region of rolling hills and mountain plains in central Alberta. The exterior decal on Frontier's new J4500, created by MCI's graphics department at the factory, depicts the local beauty of the area known as Kootenay Plains. Additionally, one of Frontier's D-Series coaches bears a decal featuring the area's Bow Lake.

Oddest title ever, but original article can be found here: http://www.metro-magazine.com/News/Story/2...-to-Canada.aspx

Frontier Bus Lines MCI model D4500CT #301 now has a new livery after being plain white for a couple of years. Very nice looking in my opinion!

Hey interesting, that bus has a "Part of Alberta Bus.com" logo on it. This is part of the competing routes against Greyhound that Red Arrow, eBus, Traxx and Onkod have all become part of.

More information here.

Though Frontier runs out of Red Deer, a little odd that they are working a run from GP to Edmonton.

Yep they are Starting Scheduled service to compete with Greyhound between Gp and Edmonton. Sources informed Greyhound about the new service and they have subsequently lowered their prices on Edmonton to Grande prairie. I expect the local run from Edmonton leaving at 2pm and leaving Grande Prairie at 545 am to be turned into Greyhound Express runs, wth better timing of course out of Grande Prairie.

Frontier Bus Lines will discontinue service Mar 31 between Edmonton and Grande Prairie. Apparently their ridership was low...Well I could see this...they did Very Little Advertising...and tried to be like Greyhound and stop at everyplace...and wanted to carry freigh too. If they would have done better Advertising...Alot Better!! Ran pretty much an Express and Not rented space in Gp...just use a hotel or somethin for pickup/drop off and had a Better Schedule...they would have been ok. Be like Red arrow...gave the customers something Greyhound didnt!
