I will be visiting Phoenix on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. I would like to get photos of the MCI D45 CRT LE buses. What routes are they used on and where would be a good location to photograph them?

Thanks for any help.

They operate mostly on routes 533, 535, 542, 562, 563, 571, 573, 575, and GAL. The best place to catch them would probably be downtown near 7th Ave and Jefferson St.

  • 2 weeks later...

They were originally supposed to go in FY2022.

The contract with New Flyer ended in September 2022. Anything that may have been ordered off that should have been here already.

RPTA has said that it has received funding for 20 battery-electric buses. But there is no contract for anything except Gillig 30s. And there hasn't been any talk of procurement in a long while.

Hi, do the 2016 Flyer XD60’s (8082-8101) make the same blinker/turn signal sounds as the 2017 Flyer XD60’s (8102-8121)?

No idea, sit up front and find out

I've got two questions:

1. Does anyone know what will happen to the ZOOM buses (1617-1622, 1644-1649) after the route's discontinuation?

2. Does anyone know what kind of buses 3012-3020 are? I'd guess that they will go to the North Phoenix yard for use on SMART.

Phoenix is able to buy off the ADOT contract with Creative Bus Sales. It's a menu of various mobility and shuttle vehicles.  I would bet these are Allstars; Phoenix has been buying these for a long time.

For Route 685, AJO Transportation will be out after January 20.  Pima County RTA will assume the Ajo-Phoenix route through its contractor (probably National Express). The Buckeye short trips will be maintained by RPTA, and operated by National Express.

I'd assume they are the same size and chassis as before then

I don't know - the 3000s show a seating capacity of 19; the Startrans brochure doesn't show a 19 + wheelchair layout.

In August and September Phoenix bought 7 units which cost $108,000 each, plus 6 more in October. In September it bought 5 units at $140,000 each, plus 6 more in October. I don't have a good handle on pricing these days, but I know they have gone way, way up in the last two years.

It looks like the Gillig deliveries stopped at 18 units.

There are 9 old 2007 D40LFR's in Austin, TX working for First Class Transportation.  They are being used to shuttle employees to/from the Tesla factory.  If you look where the farebox would be, you can see the validator that reads the employee ID's.  They acquired 6481, 6484, 6487, 6491, 6493, 6494, 6496, 6497, 6500.
