It would be fun to take pics of STM buses in Bécancour since they're totally out of their environment. It would be like CTCUM buses running for CTRSM or STCUM buses for STCUQ (these things have happened). But it sucks because I'm gone and I guess they'll be back when I return home.

Anyway, the buses might be hard to find, since they have no bus terminal, and the tests are actually done without passengers, so there is no precise bus schedule. I don' even know what are the routes. Maybe when it will be tests with passengers it will be easier.

Best odds to see them would be 'downtown' Bécancour where they would try to have a transfer point.

But I do have to agree with the original post that wouldn't using 1st gens actually turn off people from wanting mass transit in their city. I know for sure if they were to send us 10 1st gens, I'd make a few comments about the buses being used. I sure remember when we had Deshaise buses back in 1997 before our Thomasbuilts, now that was a time I'll always remember!

Former Charter Bus STLaval 5924 was being towed yesterday ... at km275 of Highway 40 near Donnacona, heading east. Seems the bus has run on it's own power until something broke down :D:D

Nope, nothing at all wrong with this bus. They were forced into retirement because they have roll signs and are not accessible. They are mechanically and structurally A1. But nowadays, who wants to buy a Classic when the government encourages you to buy brand new and waste the old in some farmers field for years to come.

I was at Carrefour Laval this morning and I saw STL 0008 with a full wrap for centropolis! (didn't have my camera though)

Cool, I remember seeing STL 0001 with a Centropolis Wrap back on July 15th

I guess it's too much for me to hope some of these buses would end up in CIT territory. Many of them don't use the rollsign anyway.

That would have been my hope as well. It seems that Laval took really good care of their buses, and with the current paint scheme rust doesn't show up as well, so it makes the vehicles look more presentable. It's a shame though, that Laval could have decided to keep atleast some of these buses in service for all their huge plans they have in the fall, but now they'll have to rely on their 2009-2010 LFS order...

St cat/pie-ix. DOA, hood up, and not even the hazards were on.

18-035 was broken down halfway turning right onto St. Catherine from Pie-IX. This bus could have possibly been Hors-Service because the 139 goes down to Notre-Dame/Pie-IX for the terminus. But nevertheless, it was awesome.

Becancour already have a rush hour transit systems that runs cutaways and modified school bus.

Like I said, I will be able to gives you more informations later, but apparently there will be many differents buses per week, so theses trash might go back to Montreal & will be replace by other trash.

There actually doing tests without passengers, but in a few weeks they will do tests with passengers.

They are more than welcome to take some all of Frontenac's 16s/17s/18s anytime! :D

--

16-150 was doing the 141 this afternoon, then became Hors-Service.

27-523 was also doing the 141 this afternoon. It seems to have a brand new front end sans Novabus logo.

15-041 and 18-021 are parked at Youville. 18-021 has the 21-2xx+ style rear side ends with the bigger white stripe.

28-067 was doing the 164 this afternoon.

16-153 was doing the 89, then became the 48. This must be the only 16 left in the STM with the original front!!!!

15-033, 15 034, 15-124, 15-137 and 15-116 were all doing the 67 this evening! :D I know the first two went out of service later on. 15-116 still has the left positioned black website too.

26-040 was doing the 141 and I got on it.

18-003 was doing the 139 this evening and I got on it. It has the original lighting!

I have to agree with you! When the tests will start with passengers, the passengers will have a little survey to complete about the buses and the service.

But will they always be leasing STM’s first gens? Maybe, when the tests with the passengers start, maybe they will have other Nova LFS than the first gens. Since the tests are actually done without passengers, it doesn’t really matter. I heard they would lease different buses from different agencies. So, maybe they will have Classics in the next few months, who knows?

It also appears that they have to get different buses everyday, since the mechanics doesn't have the required equipment to repair buses like the Nova L.F.S. yet.

2a2: 0701 with the top ad roof for Radio Energie.

7a: 9804

10a: 9801 I drove it from 08h15 to 11h00.

88a: 0804

R.T.C.:

#0329 was heading west on Aut. 40 to begin a run on route #92 Sainte-Foy Centre, at 17h15.

Becancour:

The following STM buses were seen running for Becancour tests today:

16-013, 16-028, 16-031, 16-032, 16-035, 16-067, 16-070, 16-075, 22-243, 22-296. They were all seen on Aut-55 South, in Trois-Rivieres, heading to Becancour via Pont Laviolette, at 07h50am. They were all seen heading back to Montreal on Aut-40 West, at 19h30.

I guess the following will be in Becancour tomorrow since they were seen on Aut.40 East, then probably on Aut-55 South, at 20h00:

16-003, 16-006, 16-014, 16-018, 16-019, 16-020, 16-022, 16-023, 16-025, 16-042, 16-107, 16-129, 25-235 (I think), 27-017 (I think).

So with the sightings of 2nd gens, it seems they're going to try each generation to see how they operate. Perhaps though when the STM retires the 1st gens that Becancour will buy them up from Nova. Or maybe not.

No classics today, so i didnt write anything down ...

28-013 on the 44 again. Has a little SL sticker on the front, low on the stripe, about where the FR sticker would be.

and STM's 22-232, the bus they used in many many pictures and ads, on the 44. It has a scrape runnin down almost the whole left side of the bus.. and on the blue stripe near the back, theres a little panel thats purple, aka from a 1st gen.

Thats all..

This story is quite strange, if Autobus Helie (Becancour) operator wants to try different generation of LFS, why go to montreal to get your test buses when you've got a provider (STTR) just on the other side of the bridge. I think Helie (will lost many points if buying POS) currently testing vehicule that STM will sale. More, why 20 buses for a 4 circuit 4 starts MAX. a day per circuit. This story will be to follow

Well Paul Boillard...maybe it's cause the STTR has a small fleet of buses and cannot provide any lowfloor spares. STM had enough LFS spares so they sent them. And good thing it's the first gens too!

14-101 was doing the 460 this morning.

16-072 broke down at Cote Vertu/Montee-de-Liesse this morning on the 175. EVeryone was waiting outside.

13-015, 14-145 and 15-067 were all doing the 121 this morning. And yes, 14-145 is back and repainted again it seems.

St. Denis's 24-228 was doing the 143 this morning.

14-002 and 14-169 were both doing the 139 this morning.

They need a lot of buses because they are testing more than 4 routes with 4 starts per day! Their goal is to add to routes and add departures. Anyway, there not doing this for nothing. The contract between Becancour & Autobus Helie is ending in 2012. Back in 2002, the STTR tried to take the contract over but they finally gave up, so Helie got it. Maybe the're scared that the STTR would be trying to get the contract once again, Who knows? So, maybe they are doing tests only to show their interest in the improvment of the Transit System, especially since a lot of people are asking for a connection between Becancour and Trois-Rivières, not only during Rush hours, but everyday! Anyway if they change the transits system there, we won't see the changes before 2012 (beggining of the new contract), it's sure!

Well Paul Boillard...maybe it's cause the STTR has a small fleet of buses and cannot provide any lowfloor spares. STM had enough LFS spares so they sent them. And good thing it's the first gens too!

That's it!!! At Rush Hour, when every buses are out, if there is only between 1 & 3 buses left in the garage, it's Okay! So, you can see that the STTR could easily gets into a bus shortage. The other day I asked for a replacement bus for #9802, and I was told there is no bus left avalaible in the garage! They would be able to lease STTR buses only on Weekends days.

I wasen't thinking that STTR was bus short (i consider when you cannot exchange a bus on the road, you are bus short !), since it's summer service and they are no extras (40 to 44,51 to 54) to provide, i was thinking STTR have a couple of bus spare.
