Nope, 2025/6 they will

That is correct. 2025 work on the upgrades (which started September 2023) will be completed. But they still could run it right now IF another garage can store the buses for the 555. Which they won't.

So yes. Pctc WILL next year or no later then 2026 run 555 once again. They gave it to RTC because rtc is the only garage which can handle DD (double Deckers) currently. And they wanted to introduce DD to the 555.

For those keeping an eye on block numbering: As of this sheet, the 320 line group M-F is exclusively stuff that goes in and out the yard. Alternatively, the 312 line group is 90% stuff that stays out all day.

10 years ago the STC linegroups for 40ft buses had some familiarity. 320 did all the Langley stuff, 321 was usually Newton work (and SoF routes that don’t touch SkyTrain), and 312 was usually an indicator of Delta-Scott Road stuff.

Technically, everything goes in and out of the yard. Jokes aside, 320 line group is mostly AM and PM trippers.

There will be bay assignment changes to Newton Exchange effective March 11:

319 moves from bay 4 to bay 1 directly across from the R6 at bay 8.
393 also moves to bay 1.
324/325 move to bay 12
321/394 Southbound moves to bay 6
342 moves to  bay 4 in the former 319 bay.

  • 3 weeks later...

King George Station is closing from April 27 to mid-June for maintenance and upgrades. King George-bound trains will terminate at Surrey Central.

A bus bridge will operate every 15 minutes during weekday AM peak (6am-9am) only, unless it’s a typo.

345, 394 and 395 will temporarily be extended to Surrey Central.

Out of the blue: Switch machine replacement in the downtown area on the Expo Line:

https://buzzer.translink.ca/2024/03/track-maintenance-to-reduce-expo-line-service-in-downtown-vancouver-on-mar-30

How this will work:

Trains to cycle 4 at a time: to waterfront,  Burrard, Granville, stadium. Then Stadium to Braid, Granville to King George, Burrard to Production, then waterfront to King George.

There will be a whitecaps game that day.

Also lucky how the Canucks last game of the week is the Thursday (tomorrow).

With playoffs on the horizon next month let’s see how this will play out.

Should clarify (not clarified in article opening) that the service disruption is across the entirety of the Expo Line and not just in downtown, due to systemwide reduction in headway.

It looks like there will be a reduction of 2 trains per hour on each branch, with mainline service at 16 trains per hour (down from 20) which should come out to every 3.75 min, although the article nitty gritty says to expect 5 minutes between trains on the mainline.

Plus time waiting at the station longer then usual makes it 5 minutes... If not longer.

Appears the 502 will be getting some long-needed short-turn service from Fraser/156 to Surrey Central Station effective the Spring timetable revision. This will be in place on saturday mornings from 0600 to 0700 for 4 trips/hour inclusive for a total of 5 trips.

https://www.translink.ca/schedules-and-maps/service-changes Just linking it up for convenience sake.

Regarding the 23: we’ve had really good weather earlier into March in recent years; I hope they can still do something before the sheet changes.

Buses were planned to use the counterflow lane with a pilot vehicle.  The full closure was just announced today and is only planned for tonight with the other nights until the 8th, buses are to use the counterflow as originally planned - only missing the Steveston Hwy stops.

Looks like the 301 no longer serves stop 55502 EB 126 at 72. The route is no longer listed on the stop.

Correct. Transit app even doesn't show that stop anymore for the 301. But it is an express bus so maybe that's due to the 319/R6 going the same way.
