WMATA Metrobus 2011 New Flyer XDE40 #7048

WMATA 7048: 2011 New Flyer XDE40 (Rehabbed with the frameless tip in windows removed) was operating on route T14 from last week taken by Minh Troung of Flickr. The Uber Eats rare AD has 2 movie characters from Wayne's World 1 and 2 set in 1992-93 from the TV commercials recently what I watched. The other one had Cardi B in the reference version of Wayne's World on TV.

And some rare restored photos of 1979 MAN SG220 and 1983 MAN SG310 were operating in Washington, DC in the mid-1980s by Kevin Casear H of Flickr. The 1979 first Articulated 55ft units were retired in mid 1990s and the 1983 60ft units were retired in 2002. Did WMATA has any of the units in the Historical Bus collection for WMATA Roadeos yet?

FFC 2009-2010 D40LFR #9617 is probably going to get retired from that fire damage.

The only thing missing are the remaining 2009 New Flyer DE37LFA hybrids (#3766-3770) from West Ox depot as well. Have those made the move yet to Sheppard's Parkway (or any other depot for that matter yet)? Also, I drove by Four Mile Run depot this evening and it would appear that all (or most, couldn't tell for sure) of the Orion VII OG CNGs have been removed and sent to CET for scrapping. In their place however are several 2006 New Flyer D40LFRs, #6140 being among them.

This is my favorite old MAN artic!! But most our King County Metro just largest operator the first SG-220 (151) 1976-1999, then second SG-310 (202) 1982-2002 only enough length 60' both during Urban and Suburban. It had one preserved SG-220 rest at the South Base yard.

None of those attics survived for preservation as far as I tell. Only things we got preserved are 4271, 1400, 1401, 9112, and 1912. Some others were preserved by museums and private owners but that about it as ik.

As far as I tell, maybe 3766-3770 will go to Shep and I’m not sure why D40LFRs went back to Virginia?

Well, I saw about 6-7 of them parked in the back near the Arlington Transit side of the yard (where the Orion VII CNGs used to be). Maybe for maintenance or for a backup fleet?

WMATA has more XD60s than we originally thought. We have up to 5522! All are at Montgomery right now. In response 5431-5439 are at Shepherd Parkway now while Blade has 5485-5492. Idk if 5510-5522 are 2020 or 2021 models I need to find the vins of these buses.

I figured that WMATA would just lump the 2020 and 2021 XD60s together in one shot. Since that appears to be the case, Those Nabi BRT 60 CNGs are likely done now. I would also expect a few more 40ft buses to be retired too (most likely DE40LFs or D40LFRs).

I think the XD60s are 2020 models but idk. A few NABI 60s are out rn but a lot of the D40LFRs aren't.

Not sure. I'm in Jersey rn so I can't tell if or not. I might ask my friend to swing by if he doing anything.

When I have time, I'll go up there myself. I know there are a bunch of mostly retired Orion VII OG CNGs 30/40 footers.

Yeah you should. Only things ik that are there are Orion Vs, Orion VIIs, and D40LFRs

I read that WMATA was going to buy more 40ft electric buses, you know if that is true? With Northern depot pending to be reopened around 2024 and the plan is for an all electric bus fleet, do you think they'll get them in large numbers?

That I'm unsure of. I know they have a plan for both Northern and Bladensburg rehabs but I heard nothing as of yet

TBH, did doesn't seem like WMATA is too invested in EV tech. Fredrick Transit, DASH, Circulator, and now Ride-On seems far more interested.
