...and out comes a copy of the National Enquirer, with special never-before-seen instructions on how to transform yourself into a meerkat in 3 easy steps! I insert 0952, the questionably in-service Chevy 4500 Arboc cutaway bus from Kingston Transit...

Lol, I guess it is. Is it just me, or is the dest. sign noticeably smaller than on the other cutaways?

I know that they don't carry change. I thought it would be exact change only in this case.

Lol, so they just had to show the driver their passes or give him change? Also, saw 0952, the Arboc, in service on the B a few days ago!
  5. Kingston Transit is getting 2011 NFI D40LFR's I believe

Is it really necessary for you to point out every little mistake I make? It's getting pretty annoying. Stop. Yes, 8790 doesen't have a farebox. I hadn't seen any of the Classics for ages and I was beginning to think they were retired, but I saw one (can't remember which) last night at Cataraqui on the 7.
  7. The TTC still has fishbowls in service. I don't know, there just seems to be a charm to high-floors. When you're in an LF, it feels like you're about 10 centimetres off the ground. I, personally, was sad to see most of the Classics go here at Kingston Transit, and even more so with the 1992 Orion V's. Here, the Dennis SLF-200s sound a bit like King Kong taking an equally-sized sledgehammer to a silverware factory every time they go over a bump.

Okay then. Today I saw 0315, a D40LF, when I was taking the E6 Downtown. It was painted in the BRAND NEW LIVERY- i don't know if it was supposed to be new, it looked exactly like the current one but the turquoise stripe looked a lot more blue-ish.
  9. Since there was a 'oldest bus in each city' topic, I decided to create this topic. To my knowledge, Kingston Transit's newest buses are the 2010 NFI D40LFR's, numbered 1046 through 1051.

Sorry, I thought it had been scrapped. I might go round to the yard sometime to ask about that and if some of the older retired Classics are still sitting there.
  11. Could I please become a Wiki Editor? I think I could add some information regarding the routes and fleet roster of the Kingston Transit wiki page. Thanks!

...And how do I become one?

It's not just that. There's not much wrong with the fleet list on the Wiki, except that it lists 0952, the Arboc, as a bus in service. The real problem is the route list. For example, on the Route 3 page, it lists the buses used on this route: MCI Classics, and GM classics. First off, KT doesn't have any GM classics anymore. I ride the 3 on a daily basis, and it's always an LF, LFR or VI. They did, however, use Classics on the 3 back when Classics were abundant. Also, the wiki has a list of historical routes. Since there is no page for any of the historical routes, can anyone tell me what exactly were routes 6R, 8, 11, 14, and 20 were? I've looked them up, but found nothing. I've never heard of them.

Has anyone else noticed the KT page on the wiki needs a lot of work? It still displays many Classics (ex. 9095, etc.) as buses in service, but I'm pretty sure the Classics have almost all been retired-- to my knowledge, there are 3 of them left: 8790, a GM classic, which doesn't really count as it is the Driver Training Bus and lacks a farebox, and there are also apparently 8870 and 8893 (two MCI's) still in service, but I haven't seen 'em around lately.

...out comes a time bomb. I insert a Roaring Fork Transit Authority D40i...
  16. My FML. Last Saturday, i was going bowling with my friend, and since he lives relatively close to me, I told him to catch the bus. The only bus that goes reasonably close to my house is the B Collins Bay (Kingston Transit), so I told him to catch it at his stop, which is right before mine. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I assume that I've missed it and start to walk back home, seeing as the next bus dosen't come by for another half-hour, it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey, and the snow is falling pretty heavily. Just as I'm walking away from the stop, my supposedly missed bus drives by. I try to run after it since it's only doing about 25kph (roads are coated with ice) but the driver didn't notice me.
  17. Kingston Transit- 8870 and 8893, two 1988 MCI Classics, unless you want to count 8790, an '86 GM Classic which is currently the driver training bus and lacking a farebox. It's in pretty rough shape, cannot go any higher than 2nd gear
  18. Saw an International LC cutaway being used on the 10 Amherst during rush hour on Kingston Transit.
  19. Well, I could describe an imaginary one. A quintuple-articulated, nitro-equipped V12 Xcelsior (of which the artic joints are so flexible that they can bend 45 degrees), going 180km/h on a very curvy expressway. F YEAAAHHH!!!!!

Out comes a crumpled, little Fishbowl paperbus-- to be specific, Kingston Transit 8080. I put in the sauce made from the pancreas of the questionably existent donkey that is heard being run over by an electric car at the 0:11 mark of the song Love Rollercoaster by the Ohio Players!

What I meant was that the LFs/LFRs, which have the same number of seats (39), have more seats than the VI's (about 27 seats). Ok, thanks. I guess KT really wants rid of the two SLF's also. They are putting them on the routes that have virtually no ridership (A, B, etc.) A few days ago (jan. 24) I rode one of the SLFs running the B Collins Bay (0312) and by the sound of it, it's on its last legs.

Sorry, I meant D35LFR. Moving on from that, does anyone know if KTT 7975 is still sitting at McAdoo Park Drive-In, and if they're still using it as a projection room?
  23. KTeen

    Kingston Transit

Yes, but I'm fairly sure that the LFR has several more seats. Really? Wow, fore some reason I thought SSM Transit had a lot of newer VI's. I stand corrected

I meant in future years, once the Orion VI's (98XX) have been retired. But by that time, 2004 VI's would probably be a waste of money. They currently use the VI's on both minor routes (like the B ) and major routes (like the 6). But if they replaced those with LFR's, then they probably wouldn't want to use them the same way as the VI's (both on minor and major routes)-- it makes no sense to run a D40LFR on a route like the B which has a very low ridership.
