This morning apparently a woman was hit by a bus downtown at the corner of Bagot/Princess at about 9:15 AM. I didn't see it myself, but from what i heard, i got off about 2 stops before it happened. Anyone have more news on this?

Now that all the classics are retired, that makes the Orion VI's the oldest buses in the fleet. I believe the average lifespan is 12 years, does anyone know if KT is planning on retiring them soon? Also, does anyone know if the side rollsigns on 9806 and 9808 are functional, and if KT will get rid of those soon, and possibly be willing to sell them?

Out comes the famous 'Avon calling' ad. I insert Kingston Transit 9808, with the rollsign reading "101 METROBUS COLLINS BAY".
-
That's weird, incidentally Kingston Transit 7985 (Kingston Township Transit 74179) is used as a projector for the McAdoo drive-in north of Kingston. I wonder if KT would classify as the transit authority with the most retired buses used as parts of drive-in theatres?

Sorry, I hadn't noticed his username when he originally asked for pictures. That one looks to be in front of City Hall, I didn't know there were ever streetcar tracks on Ontario St.
-
Yes I know they are from DavidW's website. It's not like I'm trying to pass them off as my own work or anything.
-
I found two. They are probably just about the only pictures out there.

Here's one, found it on the First Capital Transit Society website.

Yeah, the old Orion IV's. Very very rare. They were only sold to the Niagara Parks Commission, and I think the NPC sold one to the NYC emergency services. I think it was the only Orion bus that ran on propane.

2 of the Orion VI's have side rollsigns which they do not use, i believe 9806 and 9808. Also, 0952 has no side destination sign. I have just noticed that on some of the buses instead of displaying "OUT OF SERVICE" they display "SORRY/NOT IN/SERVICE" across the front, and "SORRY/NOT IN SERVICE" on the side. The bus I saw this on was I think 0317, but I'm not sure. It was one of the 03XX D40LFs.

FREESPACE 2! I LOVE THAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, back on topic... Out come a pair of horribly mutated chocolate/wood hybrid drumsticks. I insert a GO Transit Orion V, running the TRAIN-BUS route

Well, as much as it looks like a truck, smells like a truck, sounds like a truck, runs like a truck, and probably once was a truck, it's still a bus. R.I.P. 8893, the last KT Classic with a rollsign

...and out comes a real stereo. I attempt to put in a $10 bill, it takes me 7 tries!
-
They have an MCI J4500, which I rode on this weekend. Sometime in May 2010, I saw a McCoy bus, an older H3-45, in a wrap for St. Lawrence College. Anyone know what this is?
-
I'm not sure if 8870 can be considered the last HF, the E450's i think are technically considered as HF's but have a wheelchair lift.
-
I guess so, I saw 8893 sitting in the yard last Friday.
-
The Classics are pretty much ONLY being run on the 7.
-
...out comes a canoe oar. I insert a Kingston Transit roll sign. (BTW Does anyone know where I can find one?)
-
I know Kingston's 8790 (a GM Classic)'s transmission was messed up, it would only drive in 2nd gear. It was recently retired and is still used as a training bus, but is occasionally dispatched during bus shortages despite its missing farebox.

You're right, if they keep it short, it's all right. If they're running red lights then that's a problem, but I don't find talking responsibly on a cell phone while driving that much different than talking on the radio. Also, all this crap about endangering people's lives...unless the driver is all over the road, it's really not a life/death situation. TTC7350, I'm assuming you set up this poll. It is very biased ("It is the right of the driver to endanger the lives of the passengers and other drivers" and "not at all I feel safe no matter what" are the only answers that are not against texting and driving). If you want people to agree with you so much that you set a poll so that gives people the choice of either agreeing with you or looking stupid, don't set up a poll at all.
-
Yeah, I figured they would use an armored school-type bus.
-
...and out comes a crappy disposable camera. I insert a toonie, make my selection... and nothing happens. I kick the machine. "Hey! I want my Smarties, you thieving bastard!" I guess it's OUT OF SERVICE again.
-
Yeah, it was probably MT. Wonder what it was doing there...

This morning, when I was on the 71, as the bus went past the Collins Bay Penetentiary, I saw a weird looking Orion VI sitting in the parking lot of the penetentiary. Upon closer inspection, it was not a KT bus but in fact had a single orange stripe on the side, possibly London Transit? It was still there when I was on my way home, so I got a picture of it (a very bad one though, it's probably not even identifiable at this range):
