im not sure when it runs now, the CN engines used to travel up the spur to Arnprior every tues morning, then it changed to thurs,. but its allmost allways durring the wkdays, ive never see then do a wkend tanker run . The engines come up from walkely yard then pick up the tankers then head back. That line further into kanata may service other things too, im not sure.

hi tom, yes its the one, its also the one that was a natural for a commuter line. it was in the local paper 3 wks ago that CN wants to pull it up and scrap it. Thats the line that continues up to and ends at arnprior. Was the engines pulling 3 or 4 tankers? They were from Nylene.

Has anyone seen any fact that the CN may be pulling up the OCRR that terminates at Arnprior, in the end of 2013? SO much for that west end commuter deal that former Mayor Gibeau...and others were working on This also creates a situation for Nylene, who presently haul away material by tanker car from arnprior.

    CN 4717

wow...the go trains just keep reaching further all the time, yet here they cant negotiate one commuter line here. On infrastructure thats allready in place,Or for that matter decide where to put a downtown tunnel. sad testomony . Im not saying toronto (ttc and Go) do everything right... but Jeesh !

    CN 4717

LOL yes , i see what you mean !.. Guess the colour of money is green and they really don't care what they look like, just keep the product rolling. Rough paint jobs only to be outdone by OC transpo, . remember a few yrs ago, buses were looking pretty bad there for a bit.

    CN 4717

Guys, is CN 4717 a retired unit? or one just in pretty tough shape? I saw it picking up the nylene tankers on the line just behind my townhouse here in Arnprior and looks like its see better days, also heavy in graffiti in some spots. Speaking of this CN line (formerly ocrr) theres been alot of activity on this piece of track lately A hyrail f250 with engineering guys were out here the other morning, and a track strength truch has also been out here. Its in misrable shape, , im told theres going to be commuter on here? rob,

    new O trains

Ahh ok, that explains alot... , i had no idea what they were up to, aka a piece of the line,?? the whole thing.??..etc oh well, at least they starting to pay attention to the O train, and doing some upgrades. the buses and the light rail seemed to be in such a mess,. that the O seemed to slip under the radar looks good

    new O trains

WHen they twin the tracks, are they going with continuious weld rail ? or sectional? I havn't been on the o train since its first yr running. Didn't tthey upgrade the track at one point? Something else too, is the dows lake tunnel wide enough for double track?

    new O trains

Are these to be the same talent model as they have now ? and Is OC keeping the original 3? Good plan to twin the tracks
  11. its amazing how fast the guys are pulling it up. Im in Arnprior and the village was pulled up in a few hours. Ive come to know one of the guys on the crew , and he says once they pull out of the villages they can really make time. They are past Pakaneham now. Its a big job
  12. I heard on the news today that OC just donated one of their last de-commisioned high floor buses to Algonquin college for shop and teaching model. Would that be an MCI classic?
  13. Not too long ago i was out in L.A and took the orange line busway, which runs Nabi Artics,. One thing i couldn't get over was how quiet these were on the inside, yet there is a diesel at the back like the Newflyer are these hybrids or reg diesel? How do these compare to the all New model artic by newflyer that Ottawa just bought for their bus-way? L.A doesn't have the winters to contend with out there, so maybe the Nabi wouldn't even be a practical choice up here Its a funky looking ride though,. looks like the O train from the front. up until my visit, i didn't realize L.A even had a bus operated transitway. .... interesting. ROb,
