  1. It's 9:42am and a trolley has died. Driver requested a jimmy at mitchell (service truck taking him back) so he could get back on time. Control contacted them and they said sorry he will have to take another Trolley or they wont make afternoon bookout! Happening a lot here. We need more mechanics and probably buses thats for sure. However once again proof that their isnt a 100% Diesel backup fleet for the Trolley's is evident. Heck this makes it obvious there isn't even a 1% backup fleet. Maybe they should pull more trolleys out of cromdale. I am sure they still have some working units in there that they could use for service. The driver landed up getting Unit #192.

  3. interesting because both jason and tim said they would have air conditioning...
  4. My couple things to add.... All the 6 Hybrids (2 orion's 4 new flyers) that we have bought this year will have Air Conditioning. Aparently that is the way they will come along with the brt. This is from a spokesman from ETS who i will leave their name out. however he said it has become part of the industry standard now. My big beef with the BRT that i just cant get out of my head. All this money to spend to give a 3-5 minute lead way. one section area will cost $21 million!!! $21 MILLION DOLLARS FOR 3-5 minutes faster????? id rather spend that money towards new trolleys or work on the LRT. hell im not worried about a trip taking me 3-5 minutes longer. now if it was 10-15 i might be a little more understandable. This one just really bugs me as a taxpayer... i dont want to see the money not go towards transit i just would rather see it made useful.
  5. Guess i have to find a new groomsman eh. lol
  6. Well i guess they better not let ETS manage it. lol.
  7. I saw this on the news last night and was shocked to see that the artists rendition of the neighbourhoods included Trolley Lines!!!
  8. Krushell could attack the trolleys however in my opinion this would be the wrong time for her as we all know our current trolley fleet carrys approximately 40% more passengers on the bus than a d40lf with a wheelchair/stroller. If they were to remove them, A) Would have to buy more than one d40lf to replace each trolley as you would leave even more behind and Would have to buy the buses and the fact is we are not going to get them overnight. Hell we would be lucky to get them sometime next year the way New Flyer is going with these. So her smart move would be just to let them be for now and worry about existing services that need care like the 4 and the 8 etc... Otherwise she may find herself in a bigger pickle as her care for maintaining service would be shown to not be very high.
  9. extend the line north is a good thing. however we need more lrv's on now. im lucky that ive had cute women to cuddle next to while squeezing onto the cars but heck that probably wont last long. They have to make sure they have enough service with what they have currently before making decisions to increase stations bringing in more passengers. I wonder if they will start using the 100% diesel backup fleet for the trolley's for regular service.... oh wait. that doesnt exist. maybe this will let them finally publically admit this fleet doesnt exist and hasnt for a while because they need the vehicles to fix their shortness of operating buses
  10. That is very shiny!! lol
  11. Hmm wierd because i seen on the news that there are 3 reported shooters. 1 was shot by police. 1 shot himself and they are still looking for one possible 4 dead and 16 others injured
  12. I had my chance today by sheer luck to view both the Orion and New Flyer Hybrid demos. Not bad however, i noticed the engine of the Orion running on my first shot out at about 1015am and asked someone about it. they said that was to recharge the battery. ok it may have just come in there. but i returned at noon and it was still running. so do these have engines running when idle? that to me isnt very efficient. i will upload my pics and post link here tonight when i get home. i have a few and will get a few more end of the week.
  13. lol i was on a 4 leaving at ummm about 615pm, i believe, from uni to wem and we had to leave behind. driver went NIS then too. They dont listen. hell my lrt in the morning is always leaving people behind and one i normally take after work too.

  15. Yes they are at Michell today from 8-4 and i believe ferrier on wednesday 8-4 and westwood tomorrow 8-10 and like 2-430 or something like that. i cant remember
  16. 4445 has a counter! It is also a highway bus. I was on that on the way home from getting my streetcar conductor training today! Next year i do my motorman training.
  17. I believe your right. the reason ETS trolleys are probably not covered under this is for the lack of APU's. it cannot be drivin without the power from overhead which is technically private property. this was explained somehow to me but im not sure exactly..
  18. Um not true. non of our trolleys nor lrt have license plates. A drivers license is still not actually required because as long as pole is up, they are technically on private property.
  19. Thats exactly why i said within the next 2 years. And WE WILL! get a fleet of E40LFR's (James always keeps positive on this. no ifs ands or buts about it!)
  20. Those are some very unique pictures. something you may never see again especially within the next couple years. Way to go to get those shots.
  21. Hmm i wonder if that ever happens.. lol www.trolleybus.ca shows that it happened at least once fairly recently lol
  22. \actually im not fond of any of the new buses built in north america. Things are not like they used to be and i realize thats the way life is.. i just find that the care for building a bus is gone. Buses used to be built strong and lasting. now they are built with speed and as cheap as possible this is how i feel about these.
  23. Unit 362 was on the nickel tonight. I like this bus because it is a 75 gmc and one of a few that still have the ole hand brake! no trolleys out today. no reason why either. i traveled the whole nickel and nothing i could see
