The Société de transport de la communauté urbaine de Québec (STCUQ) was established in 1994 from the renaming of the Commission de transport de la communauté urbaine de Québec (CTCUQ) to provide urban public transit services in the Quebec City area.

It was renamed Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) on June 1, 2002.
