anonymous guy
the 6800s are coming in at a breakneck pace...what happens once the fleet number hits the 6999 ceiling?
Puget Sound Rider
I was wondering that too. They've got numbers all over the place right now. Too bad they didn't start off with a fresh set when it was found out that 2813 and so on would not work...Could have maybe gone to 5000? The Bredas have been gone long enough to start re-using those numbers I think, (maybe not, I don't know the stuff behind picking what numbers to use, but it could have been a little more sequential. They had to have known that it would get to 6999. The 9600s and 6900s are really easy (for me) to accidentally transpose. Or, just make start doing 5 digit numbers-40000 for the 40' and 60000 for the 60' and 90000 for ST and then break it down to say 65000 for RapidRide or whatever. I'm just mumbling. anonymous guy
I would have preferred it if they were able to continue from 2813 alongside the previous DE60LF fleet numbers, but then they would eventually run into the D60LF 28XX numbering scheme, making things complicated on that end as well. If you look at some of the earlier 2008 DE60LF shipments, you can still see the old 28XX numbers stamped in the middle articulation joint.

busdude.com
I think a lot of the holdup these days is computer systems that cant handle the re-issue of fleet numbers.
coordinator47
All 13 current North Base 1100s are going. South Base and East Base will each send 6 OBS 1100s in exchange. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts given that North Base has great difficulty covering all their assignments now. North Base couldn't get along with only 12 1100s so 1110 is back in service.
aznichiro115
How many Orions are at EB now? I have seen 7001,7002,7004,7005,7006,7007,7008,7017,7018,7019. Is anyone surprised that the older Orions got sent away from SB, lol 6000 has returned to SB while 6001 remains at EB for now
northwesterner
Lots of 4100 series Gillig Trolleys on 4200 Breda runs the last few days. I suspect that AVL installation has started on this fleet at Atlantic. Ryerson must be just about done, I haven't seen a RB coach w/o AVL in weeks. busdude.com
The last AMG was also retired in 1996, so it's been a few years for them.
118 Vashon via EXPRESS
I noticed at least 4 Orion coaches at Ryerson last night (couldn't see the coach numbers though). Someone over at Seattle Transit Blog mentioned one was being used on route 9 and one was seen on the tail of the northern end of route 4 (probably driver training). busdude.com
Saw a couple of gilligs in the 327x and 328x series running tonight without any advertising racks or wraps on them. their day is drawing closer faster than we think?
busdude.com
Just saw this in the paper. I guess storing batteries on the roof might have a few drawbacks. http://today.seattle...tions-expected/ Dosent seem to be too widespread of a problem, but the TTC and NYCT have been running these coaches for a few years now. You think this would have been Discovered and resolved sooner.

anonymous guy
I took a look at Zargoman's images of the coaches up for auction (great photos BTW), and it appears that some of the coaches are being shipped with OBS systems intact. Seems wasteful to not pull those components for other coaches to use, rather than leave them with a buyer that will have no use for them.

There was only one that had the interior LED sign, 3251. I do agree that it's a complete and total waste though. Obviously, there's a lot of coaches that need OBS. I'd think that it would make sense to recover all the stuff...the hat too. Speaking of OBS and hats, 9555C has a square box on the roof. The signs are inside, but don't yet do anything other than date/time and "Stop requested". The interior CCTV cameras were removed when the sign was put in (at least the rear). A couple of the newest D60LFRs just have a circle thingy on the roof at the front of the coach. 7028 and 7029 are also at Ryerson Base. I went to the Columbia Tower yesterday and saw that there was a D60LF with OBS sitting in the Central Base lanes.

118 Vashon via EXPRESS
There were at least 7 Orion coaches at Ryerson last night. 7020, 7022, 7028, and 7029 were the only ones I could identify. The others were too far away.
