northwesterner
The ISL scheme looks pretty good on these coaches. Interesting that they spec'd 54 seats. When that body style was introduced as the 102EL3, the configuration was 54 seats. A year or two into production, the standard layout switched to 56 seats. Its pretty unusual to see 54 any more because if a customer wants extra legroom, they'll normally pull out a row on each side, which would bring the capacity to 52 in a J4500. translink fan
I was working aboard Perimeter 207 today doing a corporate move today to Capilano Suspension bridge and ISL was also doing the same move as well. The skies made it for such a nice photo op Enjoy some shots from today as we all waited for our groups at Capilano Suspension bridge! canuck600
Considering it has the ISL logo taken off the side I wonder how much longer it will be in action. It's one of 4 left from the big 1986 order when ISL bought 17? brand new 102A3's prior to Expo 86.

Prevost
Interesting... Why would Golden Arrow buy such an old unit?
canuck600
It's probably on lease since the ISL livery is still intact under the Golden Arrow signage. As far as a older unit don't forget ISL is still making money with 30 year old 102A3's. Those A3's have certainly earned there keep in the fleet. Prevost
Does anyone know the price difference is between 102A3, older style MCI J4500 and the new J4500? (Just to get a pricing perspective)
canuck600
I think the 102A3's sold for around 250,000 when new, New J is probably around 500,000. Can't remember the last year the A3's were built. Just for the sake of curiosity I used a inflation calculator, if you bought something for $250,000 in 1986 it would cost you $522,964 today. Used 1986 as the figure because 4 of the 5 remaining 102A3's in ISL's fleet are 1986 models.
Prevost
Thanks for the info! What I realli meant to ask was the price difference in terms of the rental rate charged by ISL nowadays for a 102A3, old J4500 and new J4500.
canuck600
Oh charters rates, you would have to call them or maybe ask a driver. Thought it might be listed on busrates.com but nothing for isl. Closest example I could find so far is McCullough day rate for a 2010 coach is $1200 a day, day rate for a 1986 is a $900 a day. BCT-3122-D800-10240
To my knowledge, #964 is a 102-C3....
canuck600
Yes 964 is a C3 but I was pointing out that there is still a market for a even older coach then a C3 when Prevost was asking why Golden Arrow was using a older coach like
