I can remember riding New Looks and Orion 1's in St.Catharines, never rode the Orion 3, should have but didn't B)

St Catharines is actually the last place I rode an Orion I. I remember riding one on my last visit there in 1998 on one of the routes that goes from Downtown to Pen Centre. I have to come and visit soon, so much has changed.

I unexpectedly found myself in Niagara Falls today at the VIA station, and sure enough I glanced over to see 8373 and 8374 sitting alone in a corner of the yard, covered in snow drifts. I am going to try and get down there to get a tour around and perhaps inside one of those classics. The place wasnt open today, so I wasn't able to get up close. I did take some pictures though

Usually they run on the

4 Oakdale-Pen-Brock / 104 Oakdale-Pen Centre

10/110 Glenridge-Pen Centre.

16/116 Brock-Glenridge

18/118 Secord Woods

Although I was lucky to have a V on the 3 Pelham Road on Wednesday. I would say mostly Brock University. I see them a lot on those routes. They are only out in the day time though I believe

Yes evening/weekend service is fully accessible so you won't see any on the 104/110/118--the only exception is the 116 extras at night they are used.

They are usually used in 2 out of the 3 16s that run during the day---the crazy old lady who only drives them is always doing the first 16 run of the day so 6:45am from terminal and every 45 min. intervals after that are def. one......used to be very often 1 of the 2 #4s, but becoming rarer. I llive in the rez across from Brock so i see the 16s go by everyday and can guarantee you will get to ride them then, i have a tally chart of which #s i see too.

The 18 used to have them a lot---but also become rarer--never heard of them being on the 3 or very very rarely the 10.

Def check out 16 and 4.

ohhhh and the 21 confed from Brock has one ALMOST everyday! thats antoher guarantee----and sometimes the tupper or 122 also.....

I noticed while looking on the St Catharines Transit website that pretty much the remaining non-accessible routes are the ones that serve Brock University. Is there a specific reason for this? Do they use the most buses?

I think there is a couple reasons

-they do use a ton of buses

-when brock is not in session-ie now like reading week, they cut down on most routes and don't use very many if any including most spring/summer

-because there is so many extras if someone needs accessiblitity another bus is usually only a few minutes away, i have witnessed this a few times with the 4 and they usually send an extra during rush our before/after and the 16s come like 2mins from brock during rush hour....

Superstition reason.
some sort of superstition behind the number 13 i am not sure but thats why there's no 0713, probably the same reason why they got rid of route 13 years ago

Wow, :P. I've never heard of a transit agency do something like that before. What was route 13 renumbered as?

No route 13 was Carlton street and had very low ridership so was eliminated....there was never a new route named 13 because they didn't want to confuse the large number of seniors in the area....

13 which was Carlton Street is now 14 Scott Street

Actually this is incorrect.

13 is not now 14 scott. 14 scott street existed back and there was a 13 carlton street. the 13 was merged into the #14 route. Guess there wasn't enough seniors. Damn this was long ago. something like early 90's if i remember correctly.

I just went digging in my collection to find my St Catherines Transit map from February 1994. It still has 13 Carlton on it. The route ran from Fairview Mall across Carlton to Grantham and then looped clockwise using Carlton-Dunkeld-Rendale-Cushman-Welland-Grantham and then headed back to Fairview on Carlton. 14 at the time followed its current routing until Dunkeld & Carlton and then headed west on Carlton, north on Bunting and then back east on Scott to Fairview Mall.

That must have been near the time the route ended then. i know it was in the 90's. i thought a bit earlier but i guess mid.
