There was some major speculation about him being relieved of his duties due to the team missing the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season. During his final media availability today, former Senators head coach Dave Cameron admitted he felt like he was fired as soon as Eugene Melnyk criticized some of his coaching decisions during the season. Jamie Benn puts up 3 points (1G+2A) and Kari Lehtonen makes 22 saves for the shutouts as the Stars blank the Wild 4-0 to take a 1-0 series lead. Reilly Smith, Nick Bjugstad, and Dmitry Kulikov each had 2 points and Robert Luongo made 41 saves as the Panthers tie their series 1-1 with the Islanders after a 3-1 victory. Artemi Panarin's empty-net goal turned out to be the game-winner as the Blackhawks tie their series with the Blues 1-1 after a 3-2 win. Filip Forsberg's goal midway through the third period stands up as the game-winner as the Predators take game 1 of their series against the Ducks with a 3-2 win. Matt Cullen scores the game-winner as the Penguins take a 2-1 series lead over the Rangers after a 3-1 victory. Vladimir Tarasenko puts up 3 points (2G+1A) and Brian Elliott makes 39 saves as the Blues win a feisty one over the Blackhawks 4-3. The two teams combined for 140 PIMS in this one. Chris Stewart scores a goal and adds an assist while Frederik Andersen makes 27 saves for the shutout as the Ducks blank the Predators 3-0 and get back into the series 2-1. Jaromir Jagr becomes the 5th player in NHL history to record 200 career playoff points and Roberto Luongo made 26 saves as the Panthers double-up the Islanders 2-1 and tie the series 2-2. Kris Russell and Jason Demers had two assists meanwhile Jason Spezza scored the game-winner as the Stars edge the Wild 3-2 to take a 3-1 series lead back to Dallas. Patrick Marleau's powerplay goal early in the third period stood up as the game-winner as the Sharks hang on for a 3-2 victory to take a 3-1 series lead over the Kings. NEWS & NOTES Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended 1 game for using a homophobic slur. He was also fined $5,000 for obscene gesture towards an official. Evgeni Malkin puts up 4 points (2G+2A) and Matt Murray makes 31 saves for the shutout as the Penguins crush the Rangers 5-0 at MSG and now lead the series 3-1. Henrik Lundqvist allowed 4 goals on just 18 shots before being pulled from the game. The Ducks pull into a 2-2 series tie as they get 30 saves from Frederik Andersen and goals from four different players en route to a 4-1 victory. The Blackhawks stave off elimination thanks to Patrick Kane scoring the winner 3:07 into double overtime and 43 saves from Corey Crawford, to force a game 6 back in Chicago. Alan Quine scores his first career playoff goal on the powerplay in double-overtime and Thomas Greiss makes 48 saves as the Islanders double-up the Panthers 2-1 and lead the series 3-2. Mikko Koivu scores twice including the overtime winner as the Wild stave off elimination to force a game 6 with a 5-4 victory over the Stars. Logan Couture and Brent Burns had 3 assists each meanwhile Joonas Donskoi scored twice as the Sharks double-up the Kings 6-3 and take the series 4-1. Troy Brouwer's goal just before the midway point of the third period stands up as the game-winner as the Blues defeat the Blackhawks in game 7 by a 3-2 score. NEWS & NOTES With tonight's victory, the Predators are going to a game 7 for the first time in franchise history. The Blues will take on the Stars in one of the Western Conference Semifinals. This will be the first time these two teams have met in the playoffs since 2001. The Eastern Conference Semifinals will begin Wednesday when the Penguins host the Islanders. Pekka Rinne makes 36 saves on 37 shots as the Predators double-up the Ducks by a score of 2-1 and take the series 4-3. NEWS & NOTES Wednesday night marked the first time since 1983 that one series began and another one ended on the same night. The Ducks have now lost 4 straight game 7's on home ice. All of which, the Ducks had a 3-2 series lead. This was the first game 7 in the Predators' franchise history. The Arizona Coyotes are expected to name John Chayka, 26, as their new General Manager. There are some rumblings, via Bob McKenzie's Twitter feed, that the NHL could raise the age of the NHL Entry Draft to 19 years old instead of 18.
