The County of Lackawanna Transit System (or abbreviated as COLTS) provides public transit to the city of Scranton and surrounding areas of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. COLTS succeeded the Scranton Transit Company in 1972.

History

Timeline of important events

  • 1972: The County of Lackawanna Transit System succeeds the Scranton Transit Company in offering service to the City of Scranton and surrounding area of Lackawanna County.
  • 2015: November 20, COLTS representatives dedicated the new Scranton Intermodal Center on Lackawanna Avenue in Downtown Scranton.[1]
  • 2016: On January 4, the Scranton Intermodal Center opens to passengers, replacing an on-street transfer point further up Lackawanna Avenue at Wyoming Avenue.[2]
  • 2017: On March 1, COLTS entered into an agreement with the LCTA, offering inter-agency bus passes to passengers that use both systems. The passes cost $60.00, and cover unlimited rides for 31 days.[3]

All routes listed are in service, as of November, 2016. Services operate Monday through Saturday, unless noted otherwise.

Roster

  • Newer buses (after ~2010) are given a silver base, with navy blue and lime accents, using a new logo.
  • Older buses (pre-2010) are given a white base, with medium blue and orange or lime green stripes, using the older logo.
  • Two buses (fleet numbers 301 and 302) is given a light copper base, with a turquoise and copper stripe, using the older logo.

Connections to other agencies

COLTS buses make connections to Luzerne County Transportation Authority buses at the new Scranton Intermodal Center in Downtown Scranton, Mohegan Sun Casino, Pittston (Main & Broad), and Old Forge (Main & Morton).

COLTS also makes connections to Wayne County Transportation System buses in downtown Scranton to varied destinations on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.[10]

In addition, the Scranton Intermodal Center is a connecting point to out-of-town buses such as Greyhound, Trailways of New York, Fullington Trailways and Frank Martz Trailways.
