Add 2009 Orion 7.501 NG Hybrid #4476 to the retirement list as that unit is also now done out of Casey Stengel Depot.

Surprised that no one mentioned this, but last Thursday the second set of R211s (#4070-4079) officially entered service on the (A). More will start entering service once they are prepped and ready, and you can expect 2 new sets to enter service each month until the order finishes.

So the R46s is officially starting to go bye bye?

2017 New Flyer XD60 #6014 is OOS out of Casey Stengel Depot due to a bad crash whilst on the Cross Bronx Expressway, working the Q44 +SBS+ last night. A dozen riders were injured. This bus MIGHT get retired unless they remove the damaged front and replace it with 2013 New Flyer XD60 #4799's front end, basically creating a "franken-bus" like they did with a couple of 2003 New Flyer D60HFs about 10 years ago.

There was a Facebook post that SIR R44 424 is retired. Can anyone confirm?

I saw the post as well, but I'm going to make an educated guess and say that the train likely became inoperable and the MTA will just scrap it early. I don't think it has anything to do with the R211S orders because the first set is still in non-revenue testing in NYCT territory. I don't believe that it'll even undergo revenue testing until early next year.

Not yet, they'll put a few R211s in service first before getting rid of any R46s. Definitely don't wanna start prematurely retiring trains in case more problems with the 211s come up 😅

For real though...

Anyway, 2006 Orion 7.501 OG Hybrid #3692 is now retired out of JFK/FR Depot(s). Another one bites the dust, and only about 85 or so O7 OG buses remain at MTA bus Company systemwide (and MTA as a whole).

2481 is OOS after being struck by a double decker bus earlier today. No life-threatening injuries, but I’m hearing 76+ people were hurt in the accident…

You mean the new 5656 on 2003 D60 in 2013. The MTA Fleet roster on Transitalk Transportation Media Group has been outdated from last year.

Yeah that unit. But since the liveries are different, it might be interesting to see if they actually were to do it

Damn, you can't be serious. That's alot of passengers between those two buses. I would not be surprised if 2011-2012 Prevost X3-45 #2481 is written off due to age.

I wouldn't worry about the buses. I just care that everyone for the most part are fine. But almost 80 people were taken to hospital...

Was #2481 fully loading with commuters or was it Deadheading? Know for a fact most of those accident injuries were from the NY Sightseeing bus.

It was on the X38. Didn’t see how many people were on it though.

Speaking of Prevost, surprisingly, the MTA has quietly awarded the next 250 OTR coach MTA bus Company order to them. This is despite the pending closure of their upstate plant. Likely to be numbered #1630-1879.

Equally shocking it the revelation that Van Hool/ABC companies have been given the 5 Electric OTR bus order. I don't think Van Hool currently offers an EV model, so they are most likely going to have to build one from the ground up. MCI weirdly enough is NOWHERE to be found for near future orders.....

The Van Hool CX45E has been available since 2021.

Yes, that very bus.

I doubt the MTA would go for that bus in its current form without major modifications as the CX45 is essentially meant for Charter bus duties.

Looks like some Depots are stealing older 2012-2013 New Flyer XD60s from each other. Casey Stengel stole #4712, #4763, #4775, and #4778 from Grand Avenue Depot. GA in return received #4754, #4782, #4785, and #4798 from Ulmer Park Depot. I guess the B1 is going to see some XD40s again.

Might have to do with the fact that CS had recently lost (atleast for now) 2017 New Flyer XD60 #6014 in a major accident I reported the other day.

Speaking of accidents, 2015-2016 Nova LFS #8447 is OOS from Jamaica Depot due to a crash. Bus has minor damage however. For those counting, this is the 3rd major NYCTA bus crash in less than a week.
