the 40ft on the 324 either ran 1 southbound trip and stopped the 8:14 one as i dont see them anymore
or they are still running but with their info turned off as theres a bus missing on the 324 route right now

Yeah, the 40 has left now.

It was running block schedule 4, and now a 3900s has taken that schedule

the 40 finished the 8:14 trip south the return trip at 8:59 was replaced by 3959 but it was replaced at 9:30 at 8th & coffman and not at the start of the route over at grandview and nelson which doesnt make sense to me as the FT lot isnt that far from there
from what i saw when a 326 bus went down is its replacement got sent to 8th & coffman to wait which is really annoying for people waiting but that makes sense since the 26 terminates there but not for the 24

the 301, 302 and 303 were around when the routes went from 310 to 314

310/11 and 312 also had school trips attached to them

they were phased out with the change to the 320 series of routes
301 was WESTVIEW SCHOOL SERVICE

r0_301.gif

302 was LONGS PEAK SCHOOL SERVICE

r0_302.gif

and 303 was SILVER CREEK  SCHOOL SERVICE

r0_303.gif

310/11 had a school trip that served Longmont High

r0_311.gif

and finally 312 had a trip that served Heritage Middle and Loma Linda elementary now known collectively as timberline preK-8

r0_312.gif

since im already down this rabbit hole here are the early maps for the 320 routes

r0_324.gif

r0_325.gif

r0_326.gif

Im looking at satellite around the city and its really surprising how much old bus infrastructure is still there like old concrete pads and signs

found this low res photo of a phantom 40 doing the 301 school service

the caption says "Students exit a Regional Transportation District bus on 17th Avenue and Hover Street"

Well, the really isn't any good places to switch out buses on the 324 especially because it doesn't have a long layover.

It really is interesting, it's expensive to remove the infrastructure,  especially the concrete at Terminals, its just cheaper to leave it in.

F is First Longmont or First Denver, just depends on where you are
C is First Commerce City
T is Transdev Denver (Access-a-Ride)
V is Via Denver or Via Boulder (flexRide and acess-a-ride)
X is Veolia or Transdev Englewood
M is MV Transit Englewood (Acess-a-Ride)

and fun fact, FTL used Code A for a few years in the early 200

do you happen to know who used code L as i found this

i have gotten myself a really interesting find this is a 1975 photo of an RTD bus on main street in Longmont now the interesting part is that on the wiki bus 710 which was renumbered to 1410 was an 1978 MCI MC-8 but that 710 is not this one this 710 is actually 1710 which was a 1960 GMC TDH-4516 from former Denver Tramway Corporation to former Denver Metro Transit to RTD

Almost all of the 5100 and 5200 Gillig LF's are still in service, not much of a surprise, especially up north. FTD, FTL, and FTCC all have really old buses, despite receiving the 6500s, they only replaced a small portion of the original 5000s. Anywhere to the far north or the far south, you're gonna see some old buses. Every day there's at least 50 of the 5K Series out running somewhere in the city.

Did you hear in the news back in July 2021 of two ex 5000 series buses that were left on the streets in the central park neighborhood? Apparently, the individuals who bought the two ex gilligs from the auction decided to vandalize one of them while the other was left in tact. The article went on to say that it might've been homeless people living in one those buses which caused the neighbors to cause an uproar.

As a transit enthusisat, this makes me sad, disgusted and disappointed because those are good buses and they deserve to be preserved for something else, not to be vandalized or trashed by some homeless freaks. Buses should be preserved for one purpose only transporting people and after reading this article made me sick because it portray's a bad image to RTD and the community.

Here is the link to the article if you don't believe me:

Oh yeah I’ve heard of that.

It is sad, I’m young enough that the 5ks were truly my childhood, and I loved all those buses

i grew up riding the orion V's and the NABI 436's i also rode on the phantom 40's before they were retired but i was really young at that point.

when i moved to Longmont i rode on the Neoplan 345 coaches somewhat frequently and rarely on the 97 MCI 102-DL3's as seeing one of those in Longmont was pretty rare

I'm from South Denver, mostly FTCC's Zone. Took the Platte NABI 436's on the 0L when I needed to get into Downtown, and the FTCC Gillig LF's on the 3 when I traveled around the 'hood.

8th & coffman PnR on a weekday theres 6 buses every hour at the 30-minute mark and 3 every hour even
on a saturday you will see 6 every hour at the 30-minute mark and none at the even hour marks as all the buses are 1 hour headway

and lastly on a sunday only the 324 runs so its just 2 buses every hour at the 30-minute mark

for regional routes BOLT has some stupid times so transferring from a local to BOLT takes a bit its every half hour at the 22 and 52 min marks

local buses arrive at 25-minute mark and leave at the 32 mark or the 55 mark and leave at 02-minute mark

LD3 has actually good, timed transfers its every hour at the 58 mark for the morning then the 02 mark in afternoon

OMG I hate BOLT transfers! You just miss them, and especially when your in the University off season where it’s every hour you’re gonna be waiting a line time!

Today I was looking at the RTD next ride app for route 46. They usually run 29 ft buses but this time they are running a 40 ft 2020 gillig bus which is strange but given that today is sunday, they probably don't run the old buses on this day.

Bus number #6516 was running route 46 today

46 though generally having 3900 buses, is not a “usual 29-foot route” like some of the 400s are because it has substantially higher ridership, higher than almost 50 other routes in 2018, and all FlexRide areas. Most of those other routes having 40 foots and some even 60 foots (3L)

Anyhow, there’s a 40-foot on the 46 every day, I would never classify it as a 29-Foot Route
