  1. Okay... before things fly out of control... = \ People are recommended to word their thoughts clearly... I've seen past instances of communication errors and the results weren't pretty. = \ I myself thought there were some new photos that someone was going to release. In the end, however, there aren't any... after all despite initial wording.
  2. It's a surprise eh? I guess they must be treating the new buses with much more care than the older ones =O
  3. now there's a mechanic who's in big trouble... someone probably forgot to bolt it tightly down during repair work. =O
  4. Bumping it up =) Anybody caught photos of the new one sailing into the terminal or parked in there? =O
  5. Those are some funky front headlights too... I guess that is to match the configuration of the Novabus LFSs. - Allan Kuan
  6. i dunno about endorsing the government of the PRC. =O
  7. I was wondering why a diesel bus passed by me at Fraser =O EDIT: http://www.translink.ca/en/Utilities/Alerts.aspx?tab=0 Apparently the communists are celebrating in Chinatown. >.<
  8. well some people decided that to save costs they would make the tunnel have very sharp turns around QEP >.<
  9. actually this makes me wonder... is there interoperability between the two generations of Mark IIs?
  10. This update is delayed... sorry =O On Monday afternoon however I saw a peculiar thing... 307-308 paired with 311-312... this might be one of the first times I've seen them pair the new trains together in a 4-car set. =O
  11. There are several design faults with this system as the PPP deal seemed to have caused cost to prevail over better design. The 2-car trains are barely able to handle all of the traffic at the stations. Longer cars (of at least 4 cars) would have helped with the loads we're facing right now, and maybe would have helped with future loads. Keep in mind there are several redevelopments still occurring near the line, like Oakridge, Third Road, and Southeast False Creek, all three of which will probably add more riders in the long term. Short dwell times in some places do not help either as that gives little time for people to get on or off. Also, there are some really sharp curves, especially around Queen Elizabeth Park, that force trains to slow down.
  12. Maybe it's just bad wording =O I think general682002 was trying to say that Novabus isn't going to arrange the buses by number for delivery but instead will ship over any bus that's done at their factory? The rear light placement looks too high I think... and that yield sticker is definitely out of place. >.<
  13. Is it normal for squeaking and hmmph-like sounds to come from that joint? I thought it was the work of "cost savings" on maintenance.
  14. Today I got some nice freeway rides onboard buses 701 and 712 (both on route 257) as well as a ride on 703 (route 250). 712 was actually able to overtake a few vehicles on the highway (i wasn't expecting that since articulated buses push more weight) but the ride was quite shaky and the bus' articulation joint sounded like if it needed some grease. Also on 712 i noticed a little oddity with the three seats in the wheelchair area... they appear to have been modified to be separate and placed such that they get progressively lower. On the way back most buses using Lions Gate Bridge detoured on Pender due to Granville St reconstruction.
  15. I think 7200 had it too the last time i rode on it.
  16. umm... a little off topic here but does anybody notice that there is a noticable incline at Olympic Village?
  17. off topic... but i sort of wonder if TransLink will ever install their new communication system on top of the the West Vancouver one (for bus stop announcements only). - Allan Kuan
  18. another bus today in the morning on the 49... this one with orange LED.
  19. I spotted a (D)C40LF running on route 49 this morning.
  20. @ George: that's an odd coincidence =O Hmm... that means there may be some bus hunting to do later on today =P - Allan Kuan
  21. While going east on 41th Avenue near Knight, I saw a D40 labelled as T31?? turning southbound onto Knight Street. - Allan Kuan
  22. ouch. Well this is new technology... and Victoria took the calculated risk of doing this... oh well - Allan Kuan
