  1. good thing the infamous "UBC EXP" didn't show up on the Axion displays of the NovaBuses, unlike their Luminator counterparts on the New Flyer D40LFRs! - Allan K.
  2. If anybody hasn't noticed, as the engine of a NovaBus shifts from first gear to second gear on the transmission, there is a noticeable break of no noise as the engine switches gears. However, this does not seem to happen when the bus switches between the other gears. - Allan K.
  3. Spotted some community shuttles parked on private property at the Port Kells Industrial Area while riding the 501 back to Vancouver at around 3:00 PM. And it definitely looks like if TransLink is under-maintaining the current bus and SkyTrain fleet. While riding on the SkyTrain for the past week, I have found that both new and old trains are making sounds that weren't present maybe a few years ago. The bus fleet... well... I think you know what tends to happen to them.... - Allan K.
  4. Does anybody know why the current NovaBus fleet does not have their garage identification letters beside their four-digit identification number when compared to other buses? - Allan K.
  5. I would also find it interesting to see D60s roaring on 49th, which i live close to... but can the bus stops handle it? I have to see how Metrotown Centre handles arctics! - Allan K.
  6. I am currently waiting approval into the Transit-Vancouver group so I can see the photos of the first Vancouver NovaBus LFSes at Quebec. - Allan Kuan =)
  7. you got that right... i was born in 1992, so i missed the delivery of those old 1982 Flyers. - Allan K.
  8. when will translink fix up the buses so that they operate without mecahnical problems for at least a year or two? it is becoming a nightmare just to see so many buses break down in such a short period of time... - Allan K.
  9. wow... so many new trolley breakdowns... looks like the old problems with the new trolleys haven't been fixed yet... sigh... and, related to trolleys, some person on The Province commented that the trolleys and the new hydrogen buses were "a waste of taxpayer's money" because they cost more than diesel buses. Personally, no offence but I would like to see that same person breathing the gases from the exhaust pipe of a diesel bus so he can understand why the trolleys and hydrogen buses are good investments. (remember about being environmentally-friendly and green these days?) Anybody agree with me? however, there was a lot of criticism regarding the new hydrogen buses coming to Whistler, mainly due to cost. - Allan K.
  10. You're kidding me... a strike? Oh well... after hearing about cameras in the washrooms, it seems like many bus operators are dissatisfied with how the bus system is working right now. - Allan K.
  11. There was a recent discussion in the thread "E40LFR coaches off the road" about the future of some of the GVRD's routes after the completion of the Canada Line. With the information provided from BC Transit, I edited a portion of the TransLink "Entire System Map" to reflect the possible changes. This edited map is the best I could do with MS Paint, so don't cry foul over how messy it is! Any comments or suggestions? Also, since I am quite new here, I do not know how to set up the quotes. Can someone help me please? Thanks. - Allan K.
  12. When is TransLink going to ever fix and release 2101, all the E40LFRs and 2501? Man, they really take a long time fixing and repairing buses. And their security policy against transit enthusiasts is just as outrageous. ETS is way more lenient, or as far as I can see, to visitors, so why not TransLink? - Allan K (Resident of Vancouver)
  13. Not again... politics playing with people's money and opinions. - Allan Kuan
  14. New member here... YAY! The new trolleys are making a comeback! Does the fuel pump problem just affect the E40LF or does it also affect the E60LF? On a side note, has anybody ever went inside VTC to take pictures? Or is TransLink security refusing to allow visitors? I've rarely seen a photo taken inside VTC grounds. - Allan Kuan
