dj.surf.lfs
Thunder Bay has had automated announcement system since September. It sucks. There are certain places where it always get stuck, and then keeps displaying the same stop until driver resets it. For example, southbound 2 will display "Golf Links & Fanshaw" after leaving Con. College, and then get stuck and will continue to display "Golf Links & Fanshaw" until the bus turns back and passes the actual stop going northbound. Also, sometimes the GPS screws up, and the AVA displays one stop BACK, and then get stuck. This could happen ANYWHERE. Not to mention all the spelling mistakes and bad programming by Transit, there's too many of them to keep track. Here is a good example: "Winnepeg &" "Lisgar-Canad" "a Games" "Complex" They spelled Winnipeg wrong, and what the hell is "Lisgar-Canad"? Other spelling mistakes include "Rravenwood", "Finlyson", etc. Other glitches include inconsistency in cases (random stops that are displayed in ALL CAP) and ghost stops that does not exist (southbound Golf Links & Ridgecrest). Also, some stops are called out WAAY too early, before it's even anywhere near the previous stop. Not to mention we have different systems for GPS (Grey Island) and AVA (Strategic Mapping). What a stupid idea to have systems from two competing companies.

One driver told me the machine will cooked after 8 hours and will not continue to announce. They are thinking driver wears a headset with mic to announce the street name! Isn't Stragetic Mapping same company that TTC uses?
MiExpress
Isn't Stragetic Mapping same company that TTC uses? Only for the screens I think, not the full system. The system (ie. the computer) is a modified computer running on Windows software if I remember correctly.
