  1. Saw 3070-81-5 leave Terminus Longueuil this Friday morning. Does anyone know which Transdev division is '81'? https://www.flickr.com/photos/dj_surf_lfs/29247812338/
  2. Media unveiling of the new buses happening tomorrow June 12 at 8:15am, at the County Administration in Midhurst. https://www.simcoe.ca/CorporateCommunications/Pages/County-unveils-Simcoe-County-LINX-Transit-Service.aspx An update on the transit system will be provided at Council meeting following the event, including schedules, fares and marketing strategies. https://simcoe.civicweb.net/Portal/MeetingInformation.aspx?Org=Cal&Id=245

  4. The first route between Barrie and Penetanguishene will launch August 7, 2018.
  5. Another notable change is the addition of weekend service on Route 800, between 8am and 6pm.
  6. 1803-1818 Local, 1825-1837 Express
  7. Additional service changes have been posted: Route 11 - slight schedule modifications Route 501 - increased service from every 10 to every 8 minutes, weekday PM peak only Route 502 - increased service from every 10 to every 5 minutes going from Cataraqui Centre to Downtown (via Bayridge/Front), weekday AM peak only. This change was actually made in the Fall as a temporary measure to reduce overcrowding, but has now been made a permanent change. Route 701/702 - schedule modifications, with buses now leaving Cataraqui Centre at :15/:45 as opposed to :10/:40.
  8. YRT Service Change effective April 29 https://www.yrt.ca/en/schedules-and-maps/service-changes.aspx Most changes are just widening of frequencies by ~5 minutes (for reliability purposes, probably). Few things to note however: 16 16th Avenue - Saturday service decreased from every 25 to every 37 minutes, Sunday service decreased from every 31 to every 47 minutes 20 Jane - will NOT have its frequency boosted for the Wonderland season this year. Instead, 760 Vaughan Mills/Wonderland will run every 24 minutes, every day of the week. Routes serving York University will exit campus using Ian MacDonald / Northwest Gate to Pioneer Village Terminal, as opposed to Founders / Steeles.
  9. 104 Derry Express will start service April 30. Service will run every 16 minutes, weekday AM/PM peak only. https://www7.mississauga.ca/Documents/miway/routemaps/20180430_NAV_104.pdf Stop locations: Meadowvale Town Centre Argentia Financial at Syntex/6897 Financial Mavis McLaughlin Hurontario Kennedy Tomken Columbus/Cardiff Dixie Bramalea Cattrick/Torbram Airport Road Goreway Westwood Square Proposed route changes to 38, 42, 57 and 61 seems to have been postponed for future service changes.

  16. Effective December 30, most 407 West buses (except 45, 45A and 48A) and 25F will make a stop at Highway 407 Station before heading to York University.
  17. 7554 is scrapped per highly reliable source:
  18. New schedules for the December service changes are now available, by selecting any date on the week of December 17 from the Schedule Finder. One major change that was not publicized is the significant weekend service reduction on Route 20 Jane: Saturdays: from every 14 to every 26 minutes Sundays: from every 16 to every 30 minutes This reduction may be due to a number of reasons, including: Reduced Wonderland/Vaughan Mills passenger traffic during winter Extended travel time to serve SmartCentres Terminal, Highway 407 and Pioneer Village Introduction of articulated buses Still, cutting service on a busy route connecting the newly-built subway and a major shopping centre/transit hub makes no sense to me... On the flip side, at least routes 20 and 77 are being extended to run until approximately 3xm, 7 days per week, to meet the last northbound Line 1 train.
  19. As per YRT website's service change page, weekday midday and evening train service will be introduced on Barrie Line, starting December 17.
  20. The Joint Procurement Program is more than buses - components such as ITS-AVL and security cameras may also be ordered under the program. Report notes that there is currently no contract for 9m buses, although one may be awarded in early 2018. If Simcoe County wants buses earlier they have to procure them on its own.
  21. BYD demo is back in Belleville, and will be in service daily until end of year http://www.intelligencer.ca/2017/11/14/city-testing-electric-transit-bus-for-next-six-weeks
  22. Under the 2018 budget, Simcoe County is proposing to apply for PTIF funding to buy 15 30' buses over the next three years, with 6 of them to be delivered in 2018. This is in addition to the 4 Vicinities ordered this year. https://simcoe.civicweb.net/document/32943/Schedule 2 to CCW 17-353.pdf?handle=627B19819B5D4A74AD8EC6F86A017D82 (page 219) This is a change in direction from the last Transit Implementation Plan update, which called for using cutaway vehicles for intra-city routes. I'm guessing that the PTIF funding (which covers 2/3 of bus purchasing costs) allowed County to explore using bigger vehicles. In addition, Simcoe County will join the Metrolinx Joint Procurement program: https://simcoe.civicweb.net/document/32914/CCW 17-332.pdf?handle=87E646CE87CF471D88C8BE5AB7527726

  25. More detailed on the Spadina Subway change: https://www.yrt.ca/en/schedules-and-maps/ttc-line-1-subway-extension.aspx For Routes 20 and 165, layover at the south end will be at Pioneer Station. Before 2 pm, southbound buses will serve Pioneer Village, York U then return to Pioneer Village. After 2 pm, buses will terminate at Pioneer Village, then deadhead to York U to start the northbound service; to travel to school you have to transfer to another bus (Purple, 96, 107 etc.) from Pioneer Village. Weekend service between York U and Newmarket (96 Keele-Yonge) has been quietly taken off the plan Route 26 between VMC and Vaughan Mills is now peak only (original plan was Monday-Sunday) Viva Orange service will increase from every 45 to 20 minutes on weekends (this was confirmed by a service planner at VMC yesterday).
