Shaun Posted January 16, 2022 Report Posted January 16, 2022 5 hours ago, Articulated said: Two points: Greater Sudbury is an amalgamated single-tier municipality, so every town, village, or settlement that is conceivably "near" it was amalgamated into it back in 2001. It is also the largest municipality by land area at over 3,000 square kilometres, so it takes a really long time to drive from the centre out to another municipality outside of its boundaries. The next closest municipality with transit service is North Bay, approximately 2 hours of highway driving to the east. Timmins is a little over 3 hours to the north, and Sault Ste Marie about 3.5 hours to the west. So no, it's not realistically possible for GOVA to connect to any of these neighbouring systems. North Bay and Sudbury should get together and build a bus service between the two.

No. That's what Ontario Northland is for. Btw, Greater Sudbury and North Bay are 127km apart. That's not a distance you ride local transit on. 3
Stops At Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 775 in the new livery is retired. It is in the new livery.
whistler Posted November 19, 2022 Report Posted November 19, 2022 I was in Sudbury the other day and spotted a pretty cool looking LFS that’s been wrapped with their old orange 1970s livery. I didn’t get a chance to take a pic or even see the unit number but I found this article from September that mentions it: https://www.sudbury.com/local-news/free-rides-sept-28-celebrate-50th-year-of-local-public-transit-5878137 For comparison: I think they should go back to this, looks good . 4
Mind_the_gap Posted October 19, 2024 Report Posted October 19, 2024 Is there anything still happening on the articulated bus front?? Before the route restructuring, they were meant to serve Cambrian College. Is anything still happening on the smart card front? Those GFI Genfare machines won't last forever, and it's an awful lot of transfer cards. I kind of wish Sudbury, North Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie would go with Presto, like they worked together with the next-stop announcements. "STOPPING" is such a rare way in NA to display "Stop Request(ed)". I love it!! In all honesty, was the GOVA rebranding really necessary at all...?
MiExpress Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Sudbury has placed a order for XD40 buses using the Metrolinx procurement. No amount is listed on the procurement page, but based on the contract value ($5.5 million) it would be for 6 or 7 buses based on current pricing. This will be Sudbury's first order for New Flyer buses since 2004. https://greatersudbury.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en/Tender/Detail/da631fdd-3aa5-417e-a889-33ac597c8f93/#Awarded
