Metromover 57 is wrapped up in Heineken F1 livery leaving 1st Station on Biscayne Blvd in Downtown Miami on APRIL 14th during my 2 day business trip. The rest of the 26 2008-14 Bombardier Innovia APM 100 fleet will be refurbished by 2025.

Lucky I saw few of the 2005-06 Nabi Diesels are on the road including the few 2010 Nabi HEVs on the road, Majority of CNG Gilligs and New Flyers with some plastic bumper and fiberglass fair roofing damage, HEV Gilligs with the broken rear Sign including the 2015 HEV Nabi Artics and I did not saw any 2012 30FT Gilligs, 2004 Nabis, 2016-17 XDE60s or problematic Proterras EVs in the entire NW Miami Dade County during my business trip (APRIL 14 and 15th respectively).

E22166 was wrapped in special art livery from this past earth day weekend

New design of the Electric Bus Facility

IMG_8143.jpeg

That's correct sir and It will be the first all-electric bus maintenance facility in Miami-Dade County and it will be located next to the Homestead Air Reserve Base in SW Miami-Dade. This proposed facility will charge and maintain the 100 60-foot battery-electric New Flyer Xcelsior XE60 articulated buses of the South Corridor and will host parts and equipment for maintenance of the South Corridor's gate arms.

The Gold Standard Electric Bus Rapid Transit Line construction is still ongoing at this time and the project will be completed by next year.

https://www.miamidade.gov/transit/library/2023-05-08-sdebf-industry-presentation.pdf

Electrification of Miami-Dade County’s Metrobus fleet is advancing the County’s climate action strategy, which is focusing on ways to reduce emissions and ultimately building a resilient and sustainable community. In 2022, the first 40-foot Proterra ZX5 battery-powered electric buses from an initial order of 75 vehicles. In spring 2023, DTPW had received and placed in service most of the 75 Proterra electric buses purchased.

Once all 75 electric buses are delivered, approximately 10 percent of DTPW’s Metrobus fleet will consist of zero-emission vehicles and the Department will operate one of the largest electric transit bus fleets in the nation. Additionally, the Department retrofitted three of its bus garages with 25 chargers each for a total of 75 Proterra chargers. DTPW will continue to expand its electrified bus fleet to include 100 brand new 60-ft articulated battery-powered electric buses. To efficiently operate its evolving electric fleet, the Department needs to build a new facility where the vehicles can be housed, charged and maintained.

Following an extensive selection process, which involved input from stakeholders and the community, a site has been identified for a new, state-of-the-art and one-of-a-kind facility in South Dade. Plans are in the final design phase for the new facility to be built on a 20-acre site located at SW 127 Ave and Biscayne BLVD. Construction is expected to start towards the end of 2023 and substantial completion of the facility is expected early 2025.

Some of the benefits this offers to the community are:

Avoids residential or commercial displacement.

Minimizes environmental impacts.

Connects the community to additional transit services.

Appropriate zoning is in place.

No property acquisition costs due to County ownership.

The new, state-of-the art electric bus facility will have the following components:

Parking for 100 60-ft electric buses

Rapid charging stations and infrastructure for 100 electric buses

Maintenance building

FPL vault building

Bus service and wash area

A pedestrian bridge

Employee offices

Employee and visitors parking

The maintenance building will include maintenance bays, mechanical shops, parts storerooms, loading docks, restrooms, showers and lockers, lunchroom, office, and meeting space.

The facility will also include training rooms, wellness center, showers, and lockers, bus operators room, maintenance crew room, and an Information Technology room.

Unbetter Bus plan

IKR and one of the 1980s outdated Elevators and escalators at one of the Metromover stations in Downtown Miami is broken down and not working. Hope the largest transit operator system in Florida needs to invest their new Elevators and escalators right now to keep their customers happy.

The only thing this new bus network brings is service cuts, more walking, longer wait time, and more connections. With these service cuts it is predicted the last gen 1 and possibly gen 2 Nabis will be retired

First of the 09100 series Nabis have been sent to the medley graveyard along with recently retired 05100s and 06100s. 02198 has also been sent to the Medley graveyard as preservation plans were scrapped

Are these will be scrapped in Opa-Locka due to mechanical issues? MDT has been playing dirty politics, wasted and neglected all of their  1990s and 2000s Nabis with updated bad paint job, painting peeling off from the Ads and some of the units were showing old outdated paint schemes all over the buses.

some of these buses, better said most of them were retired in running condition. buses like 05144 were active just a few weeks ago. 02198 was actually painted with actual paint And not a wrap. The county spent nearly 50k on it just to retire it 6 days after returning to service. Another recent example of MDT wasting money was 05207 which again the county spent almost 60k on it just to retire it a few months later in running condition.

This has been something MDT has been known for since the Flxible days. 7027 was retired And repainted just to get retired a week later.

That sounds good and you'll have plenty more  2004-06 Nabis  to ride with for their last moment before they dropping down like flies and heading to scrap yard and unit 05124's new livery paint was pelled off straight to 2005 white blue and green Checkerboard livery when it was delivered brand new.

Here's the photo of NABI 40-LFW 05124 in the new white blue/green Checkerboard livery operating on the K Route on Washington Avenue at 10th Street in Miami Beach, December 26, 2005 when it was delivered brand new with the Cummins ISM engine same time Detroit Diesel discontinued their production of Series 50 engines.

only 6 05100s remain in service And 22 06100s. 28 total gen 1 40LFWs remain, and just 4 gen 2 40LFWs remain. although this could change by next week as the last 22100s Proterras enter service; highest numbered Proterra is 22170.

Any updates on the 100 60-ft NFI XE60 bus order?  Did NFI bid the contract for SMART Bus Project in South Miami-Dade yet?

I believe it was already announced a few months ago that New Flyer got the contract. 60 buses will be used for the South Dade BRT & will have doors on both sides. 40 buses will be used for regular service routes elsewhere in southern Dade & will have doors only on the passenger side.

Thanks, and hope we wait for the fleet numbers (1st 60 EV batch) to be confirmed later on this Fall when or after the first pilot bus delivered by flatbed wrecker. Either 235XX or 245XX series.

It was mentioned in meetings but no order as been confirmed. They are still getting used to the Proterras which only run on rush hours n weekdays. With the exception of the ones at central which run on weekends

About 35 Nabi 40lfws have made their way to the medley graveyard, awaiting to get auctioned off
