Simple. people see the bus fly by them every day and see that while there stuck in gridlock taking 1 hour to get home and cursing at everyone, they could have been on the bus, saved 15 minutes and sat back and let someone else do the driving. That would take people in vancouver to think for once I think the only bus right of way lanes are in richmond so the buses get stuck in gridlock too. Now the bus lanes are gone. How many do we have in Edmonton? Not many? There are painted bus lanes on 97 Street frmo 137 avenue to 118 Avenue, which people can get fined for using during rush hour, but other than that... I think 104 Street has one? 104 St has a counterflow bus-only lane, separated by a median from the SB traffic, NB from 76 ave to 83 ave. 109 St has a bus lane, NB, from 76 ave to 82 ave in AM peaks, and from 82 ave to 105 St Bridge all hours. edmontonguy Posted January 22, 2007 Report Share Posted January 22, 2007 Though it's not a bus lane, the outside lane that appears shortly before the pedestrian bridge on Belgravia road works extremely well. The traffic in the lane flows quickly by the two others which are usually locked up waiting to turn left 4 or 5 blocks ahead, it easily saves 5-10 minutes off of the car trip. It is in effect during the rush hour from 6:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Monday to Friday. The 97 Street northbound bus lane starts from 118 Avenue to just south of Yellowhead Trail. It is in effect during the rush hour from 3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Monday to Friday.It kind of continues up to 127 Avenue - the bus stop is out of the way, but then the bus has to come back into the regular lanes.
