RoseCityBusMan Posted July 8, 2023 Report Posted July 8, 2023 This was unexpected for sure. Didn't expect another Phase 4 Car to happen but it did happen to a Type 4 which isn't getting any overhaul programs as of right now (might in the future, maybe when the Type 2s are going to retire off). That is surprising to me. I do hope we get some more Type 4s painted in the Phase 4 color scheme. It looks amazing on the Type 4s. I did wished when Trimet introduced Phase 4 in 2019 they painted some buses into the color scheme like they did for the Phase 2 and 3. If it happened though it would've only happened to the Gillig BRTs and maybe the D40LFRs. The D40LFs would be phased out. 1
RoseCityBusMan Posted July 13, 2023 Report Posted July 13, 2023 From a response from Trimet about the Type 4s It's looking like there plaining on to repaint all the Type 4s eventually. I also found this interesting. This person believes that New Flyer won the bid for the next buses. This person believes that it will replace the 3000 series Gillig BRTs which there are the 2009 New Flyer D40LFRs that Trimet has and those are next on the chopping block, the D40LFRs are 3 years older then the 3000 series. I could understand for the FX route since Nova Bus is exiting the US leaving Trimet having to buy New Flyer but I think that would be a expansion of the FX line once they start working on the 2nd FX line. 1
RoseCityBusMan Posted August 4, 2023 Report Posted August 4, 2023 Tomorrow I'm going on MAX, hopefully I will catch my last ride on a Type 1. I'm really hoping to ride any type 1 (116 if I'm lucky) Also this post is a wake up call https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cvf_pB8tIAr/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng== To any of you out there, who wants to ride a Type 1 for the final time, it should be soon. The Type 1s aren't going to be around for much longer. Will post back here of some photos of max trains. If I do remember. 1

Glennwood Road Ent. Posted August 7, 2023 Report Posted August 7, 2023 https://www.instagram.com/p/CviGK68xMvy/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== One unknown unit, 1988-89 Flxible is spotted in Washington State and converted into a restaurant by a private business owner. Non driving condition 1
RoseCityBusMan Posted August 12, 2023 Report Posted August 12, 2023 That's nice to see a Flxible Metro being found. I know that some Older D40LFs (probably 2500 or earlier) are at Mount Hood Meadows. I know Bus 2116 is up for sale on Facebook. Unfortunately most Trimet buses have gotten scrapped which is unfortunate. 1
Trimetwes Fan1003 Posted August 13, 2023 Report Posted August 13, 2023 There should have been a Portland transit museum that would have preserved all the old TriMet buses. 1 1

And why do you want to keep a bad word in a post that doesn't need or deserve it. I would never refer to a majestic piece of transit history like that. 2

Nope, the bus is in the Seattle area so no, and I'm old enough to use whatever word I want to use sorry if that hurt your feelings 2

Trimetwes Fan1003 Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 All my 1826 photos. Part 2 Part 3 This is the only Flxible Metro I have and ever will film. And i never got to film it running. 2 1

You are also rude for not taking other people's feelings in to consideration when making such comments. Respectful people would realize their mistake and correct it. Also, no more replies from you. I'm done with this toxic argument. 1 2 1

I'm not gonna correct the words I use because I don't see a problem with them, you are the only one complaining about it. And this is not a toxic/ argument these are statements 2 1

I'm glad you appreciate this bus, but don't get your hopes up, the bus is not in the best shape. Until recently it had been sitting around for years. The inside is in poor shape, actually had a wasp nest. The owner is preserving it, but it takes a lot of time/money to own a bus, which many people don't seem to realize. Thanks to @Trimet101s hard effort it looks a lot better now. However from what I hear it's likely not going to come to Oregon. Also, it's not just something that fans can really check out. Unless you spot it out on the road, the bus is parked to where it is not accessible from the public in any way. 1 3

Unless you spot it out on the road That sucks it like that considering I got into public transit after the Flxible Metros, Gillig Phantoms and even the New Flyer D40LFs. There is bus 2116 (97 Phantom) that is for sale. Unfortunately the back seats were ripped out and they are probably going to be replaced. Hopefully someone can get 2116 in good condition and restore it. I would run that bus for something. 2116 is looks pretty dirty for the listing, it needs back seats, and maybe some new logos (probably classic Trimet ones). It looks like it's going to join the rest of the transit skoolies. (I realized I already mentioned 2116 here, oops) 1

I just feel like us transit fans shouldn't be denied the opportunity to see such an iconic bus still in running condition. 1826 was good when it still existed, but to be able to see a TriMet Flxible Metro running, with it's iconic Cummins engine sound, is perhaps the ultimate prize when it comes to seeing ex TriMet buses. There is also the fact that the Flxible Metro is the one 1990s era TriMet bus that i have never been able to see running. I got to see the 1998-1999 D40LFs when they were still in service. I was able to see the 1997 Gillig Phantoms and D40LFs when they were owned by EcoShuttle. I even got to see a 1995 C tran Gillig Phantom on the Pioneer Express. But i never saw a running Metro. At this point, I sould just buy a random Flxible Metro and repaint it into the TriMet paint scheme. Then i would run it all over the TriMet system and let anyone who wants film it do that. 1
Trimetwes Fan1003 Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 Also, you seem to know a lot about 1902 considering how obscure information about that bus is. Have you also seen it? 29 minutes ago, RoseCityBusMan said: That sucks it like that considering I got into public transit after the Flxible Metros, Gillig Phantoms and even the New Flyer D40LFs. I guess you can make a charter with it As for being denied to see a bus running in good condition, it's somebody's bus and they choose what they want to do with it. Yes I do wish that we get to see the Flxible Metros but it's seems that most Trimet Flxible Metros are unfortunately scrapped, I'm not a fan of scrapping buses. I maybe could understand since Flxibe has been out of business for like 25 years 26 minutes ago, Trimetwes Fan1003 said: I hope that whoever does buy 2116 keeps it in it's original paint scheme, keeps it in Oregon (preferably the Portland Area), and runs occasional public outings with it so transit fans can see and film it. Yeah. It may end up going towards another person who wants to do a skoolie with it. If I had it, I would try to restore it. Then I would take it to bus shows. I would probably get people who are transit enthusiasts and let them ride the bus. 1 1
