Big CJ
Several Ex-Lynx buses were sold to Gainesville. In 2005 eight Orion Vs were sold to Gainesville. 404-407, 409-410, 416-417. This is shown on page 12 of the board report. http://www.golynx.co...a_5_26_2005.pdf In 2009 Lynx sold 21 buses to Gainesville. 276, 283, 302-311, 315-322, 330. All of these buses were sold to Gainesville to replace older buses at Gainesville. On page 90 of this board report you'll see the buses that were transferred to the GRTS. http://www.golynx.com/core/fileparse.php/97316/urlt/0054565-01-22-2009_LYNX_Board_Agenda_Pkg.pdf 302-311 were recently retired and auctioned off early this year. The auction ended some time last month. Several Ex-BCT Flxible Metros built in 1991 were also there too along with some Palm Tran and Votran Flxibles. I'll provide numbers on the Flxibles tomorrow. Big CJ
I would like to add that Gainesville owns buses 382, 384-394 (Former Lynx Phantoms built in 2001). These were transferred to Gainesville and renumbered. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chacajaba/8290038930/in/photostream/ Gainesville also has 15 Nova RTS buses (40 footers) built new in 2001. These have Series 50 EGRs just like 382, 384-394. There are also new hybrid buses with Gainesville. I'll post that information when I get the chance too. Big CJ
Some Palm Tran Gillig Low Floors are at Gainesville. The known ones are 0004, 0011, and 0019. There was also a fleet of GMC RTS built in 1980-1981. Former MTA (NYCT) buses and some came from PSTA. These 40 foot coaches were numbered 4501-4510. Also 2195, 2242, and 2244 came from HART, meaning they're 1979 35 foot RTS-03s. Now for the Flxibles that I sadly pushed back too long. Votran's Flxibles numbered 601-603 also went to Gainesville, the 1995 Flxible Metros from Palm Tran numbered 960-964, 966-967 went to Gainesville, the 1990 Flxibles from BCT numbered 9010-9012, 9015-9016, 9018, 9021-9022, 9027, 9030, 9033, 9036, and finally 1987 Flxibles from Lynx 626 and 628. I'm awaiting more information on how many Flxibles there were from Lynx. By the way does anyone want me to post information about the buses Gainesville bought new? Turbo19
Alright, seeing as there is evidenced from seconary and third sources I've made some revisions myself. Please take a look. http://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Gainesville_Regional_Transit_System#Roster I'll admit it's a work in progress but I think it looks better now than previously. If anything else need be added or correct do not hesitate to say.

Big CJ
As mentioned above 276, 283, 302-311, 315-322, 330 went to Gainesville and are ex-Lynx buses. All of these are retired except for 283, 315-322 and 330, which are still running for Gainesville. 276 and 309 are now in San Juan, Puerto Rico being used as party buses. The remaining 35 foot Phantoms were sold and have been reported seen in the Orlando area. Then we had the Orion Vs from Lynx numbered 404-407, 409-410, 416-417. The Orion Vs have been retired and were also sold, so they're still around and the same story with the 1995 Palm Tran Flxibles. With that said, a fleet of Phantoms numbered 244-255 were built new for Gainesville in 1995. These buses used Detroit Diesel Series 50 and Allison B400R transmissions. To point this out both the Nova RTS and Ex-Lynx buses numbered 540-550 used ZF 5HP-592C transmissions, since the original ZF Ecomat was discontinued by 2001. The 5HP-592Cs were Ecomat 2. Gainesville has five new hybrid Gillig BRTs. The ones built in 2012 are numbered 1200-1201, while the 2013 Gilligs are numbered 1300-1302. I'm not sure what hybrid system they have. The Gillig Low Floors (not BRTs), they bought in 2007 are numbered 0701-0712. Another batch numbered 0801-0804 were bought in 2008. They use Cummins ISLs and Allison transmissions (likely B400R). In 2001, Gainesville bought a number of new Phantoms numbered 551-558. These Phantoms use the same engine and transmission set up as the Nova RTS and Ex-Lynx Phantoms built in 2001. Another fleet of Phantoms numbered 573-577 were built in 2007. These use Cummins ISL engines. I'm not sure about the transmission, but looking at how the 2006 Phantoms numbered 569-572 have ZF transmissions, I'm assuming they have they use ZF as well. For the Gillig Low Floors, 17 buses built in June of 2010, numbered 1001-1017. These buses replaced the 1995 Phantoms numbered 244-255.

Big CJ
Thats a sweet photo of the line-up! I guess Gainesville knows how to take care of a used bus. I agree. Have you seen the other pics from the same user? It's incredible how many used buses they bought on top of the buses they bought new. Many of these used buses are still running around Florida. A number of users on Flickr and outside of Flickr have confirmed that. Right on. I'll attempt to work on the page as time progresses. Take your time. Big CJ
I looked at some of the GMC RTS buses bought used. 4508-4510 are 1981 T8W-204s from the first MTA RTS bus order, meaning they have 6v71Ns and Allison V730 transmissions. 4501-4507 all have 6v92TAs and were built in 1982 for PSTA. Unlike the MTA units, these RTS were 96 inches wide instead of being 102 inches.
Big CJ
Alright now I got more information on the 1987 Flxible Metros that went to Gainesville. These are the numbers: 621, 623, 624, 626, 628, 630, 729, 738, 742 and 745. 621, 623, 624, 626, 628, 630 are 40 foot buses, while 729, 738, 742 and 745 are 35 footers. They came in 2002. Turbo19
Quick question. Should seat types be added? LOL, as far as the workload for me goes I'd say no, but really I wouldn't mind. The articles need to be cleaned up in the near future regardless, so if you do hav ethe info I'd add it, no problem. Thank you and thanks to all the Wiki Editors! No, thank you very much for your appreciration.

The articles need to be cleaned up in the near future regardless, so if you do hav ethe info I'd add it, no problem. I'll see what I can find. I have information regarding a fleet of RTS buses at Gainesville. Before those 40 foot GMCs came, there was a fleet of 35 foot RTS-03s at Gainesville. These units are likely Fayetteville, NC units. Gainesville didn't have any RTS buses bought new. I'm not sure how many 35 footers were bought, but the numbers for these buses are 1933-1934 so far. T7W-603s and they bare strong resemblances to the units Lynx bought used. They use 6v71Ns and Allison V730 transmissions. They had no wheelchair lifts as seen in the photos, which were taken by Flickr user Essonne Image. http://www.flickr.com/photos/braunstonian/5844809069/in/set-72157625598003926/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/braunstonian/5845360080/in/set-72157625598003926/
Big CJ
The user that took those pictures confirmed that the bulk of Gainesville's bus fleet was Orion Is and Bluebirds by 1994.
Big CJ
Okay here is more information. SCAT's 30 foot Orion Is that went to Gainesville were 9103-9105, 9108, 9113. Now the next set of information I have will need a lot of researching, but I think it can be done. These pictures posted by Flickr user El Guajiro shows the bus fleet in 1987. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chacajaba/11472145613/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/chacajaba/11472023894/in/photostream/ I can say that 207 and 209 are Bluebird City Birds, but I don't know what year they were built. Big CJ
I stumbled upon something very interesting. It has to do with what company predated Gainesville RTS. It was original Gainesville Transit Company, started by Wallace Brown back in 1968. This along other information is stated in the news article below. The second article has some additional information about the company and other transit companies in Florida. http://news.google.c...pg=3718,4376256 http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1346&dat=19741202&id=YaROAAAAIBAJ&sjid=0PoDAAAAIBAJ&pg=7263,902780 Also this news article below confirms when Gainesville bought the Lynx Flxibles, which took place in 1998. http://news.google.c...pg=1528,7326942 To add more information onto the Gainesville Transit Company, it was started on March 20th, 1968, according to this. http://www.florida-c...pany-inc-39g20/ So there is the start up date for the company. Big CJ
I got word Gainesville will be retiring the Ex-Lynx units late this year. Don't know what buses they're using to replace them, but I can assume they will buy used Phantoms from Lynx. Refer to my post on the Lynx thread for what buses could go there. alexb320
Gainesville still has the Ex-Lynx 1997's(315-322, 330) running in revenue service. They were supposed to be replaced by the 2002 and 2004 Phantoms purchased from Lynx in 2015, but all continue to run. They are primarily used for peak hour service and routes that run in the middle of the University of Florida's campus. Ex-Lynx #283 is also still running strong and is being used as a training bus and I see it very regularly around town. I expect these will likely be retired when the Ex-Lynx 2006/2007(571-572, 574-575, 577-578, 580-583, & 601) BRTs arrive and are put into service. In regards to the 2002(C27D096N4)/2004(C29D102N4) Phantoms purchased from Lynx: 2502(502) (15GCD271321111353) 2504(504) (15GCD271721111355) 2507(507) (15GCD271221111358) 2509(509) (15GCD271021111360) 2512(512) (15GCD271621111363) 2517(517) (15GCD271421111653) 2520(520) (15GCD291941112605) 2533(533) (15GCD291741112618) 2538(538) (15GCD291041112623) 2502 is the only bus that has currently not seen revenue service. I have personally ridden 2509 and 2517 and these are, mechanically speaking, very nice buses. The interiors are a little rough. A lot of the seats are mismatched and a mix between cushion and inserts. These are by far the smoothest buses to ride out of all the Phantoms running and a much smoother ride compared to the LowFloors(duh). 2006 Gillig LowFloor BRT (G29D102N4) Ex-Lynx: 571 (15GGD291861077351) -692,375 miles at acquisition 572 (15GGD291X61077352) -690,438 574 (15GGD291361077354) -674,943 575 (15GGD291561077355) -629,508 577 (15GGD291961077357) -621,008 578 (15GGD291061077358) -603,783 580 (15GGD291961077360) -649,234 581 (15GGD291061077361) -662,054 582 (15GGD291261077362) -587,378 583 (15GGD291461077363) -601,022 2007 Gillig LowFloor BRT (G27D102N4) Ex-Lynx: 601 (15GGD291171077922) -570,889 These will be delivered to RTS anytime now as they are currently being repainted by Lynx. There's no word on what RTS will renumber these as. I expect they will be renumbered like the 2002/2004 Phantoms and add a 2 to the beginning of Lynx's original number.
