The old stories are some of the better discussion on this board. Its still amazing to me that how much of current operations can be traced back to decisions made decades ago, and in some ways how little of the basics have changed, even with computerization and the passing of time.

This is sorta off topic, except for the fact these photos were taken from the ferry Spokane in Edmonds today. Things got really, really crazy with the north winds.

Railroad tracks being slammed with waves

Edmonds Ferry dock being hit with waves (We were using a single lane to offload/load traffic because of the amount of water coming onto the dock).

A few other shots showing how big the waves were crashing into the Edmonds Waterfront

Kitsap Transit Arboc Spirit of Mobility. The route number is smaller than the destination and the number 4 is in a different style than I've seen on buses. This particular formatting only shows up on the Arbocs. They also have a very small destination sign.

This is kind of transit related, as it is a bus. I have absolutely no idea what year this bus was built, but it is old and awesome to see it still running. I pulled into a parking lot to get this shot because I saw the bus stuck in traffic behind me.

When I was driving today, I saw a new generation of Enviro500 demo running on SB I-5 near Boeing in Seattle. Anyone have ideas about that?

I orginally posted this but I mistakenly misread your post and the location where you noticed the bus:

"According to THIS annoucement they made in December, it must be one of the 17 which are "expected to be delivered in late spring to early summer" ...right on schedule, it appears. An additional five buses will arrive in mid-to-late summer."

Re-reding what you posted, I guess you're asking why it was going SB on I-5 near Boing Field in Seattle?

A guess could be that it may be going to the Cummins Northwest facility on Grady Way in Renton for a warranty work, etc.? You'll often see transit buses there for such issues ...just a guess.

Yes, I saw it near Boeing Field in Seattle-Renton boundary, not the one in Everett.

I believe that is a demo which is shown in this link: http://www.subchat.com/buschat/readflat.asp?Id=302899.

Your guess may be right but I am not sure.

Kitsap Transit is doing a trial with the Enviro500. It will operate on route 90 (Poulsbo-Bainbridge) June 1-5 and routes 11 (Crosstown Limited), 12 (Silverdale West) & 17 (Silverdale East) June 8-12.

More info in the Kitsap Sun.

Great pic!

Do you have detail about its schedule?

It's not running mid-day (at least today). Found it hanging out at Kitsap Transit's North Base in Poulsbo. I really like the front end styling. I hope that the ST coaches have this style.
