Toronto Transit Commission 1001
Toronto Transit Commission 1001 was a Nova Bus LFS built and delivered in 1998. Trialling the bus was part of a settlement with Nova Bus after the TTC cancelled half of a 100-bus order and placed an order with New Flyer to acquire buses faster. The TTC elected to purchase a bus that was built to their specifications.
After it was tested for around two years, The TTC decided to sell 1001. They believed it was not worth keeping such a unique vehicle in the fleet. It was purchased by Barrie Transit and renumbered to 65598 in 2000.
During that period, it was stored at Old Eglinton garage and was commonly found on routes 5 Avenue Rd, 6 Bay, 11 Bayview, 28 Davisville, 29 Dufferin, 34 Eglinton East, 51 Leslie, 54 Lawrence East, 56 Leaside, 88 South Leaside, 97 Yonge, 121 Front-Esplanade and 197 North Yonge.
