8 University/Fairview is a conventional bus route operated by Grand River Transit. The route serves, from north to south, University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Charles Street Transit Terminal, and Fairview Park Terminal.

The route operates on 4 separate branches, with Charles Street Terminal being the meeting point of the branches. To the north, buses can either go to Waterloo via Westmount Road or Weber Street. To the south, buses can either go to Fairview via Courtland Avenue or Franklin Street, evidently forming an 8-like shape along the route.

During weekday and Saturday evenings, and all day on Sundays, the 8 via Franklin branch makes an additional diversion via Frederick Street and East Avenue.

Generally, buses that go via Westmount Road in the north go via Franklin Street in the south, while buses that go via Weber Street go via Courtland Avenue in the south.

As the 8 generally covers the same areas as the 7 Mainline, it is an excellent alternative to the otherwise busy route.
