ABQ RIDE 701-758

ABQ RIDE 701-758 are 2007-08 model New Flyer Industries DE40LFR buses. Built in 2007 and delivered in late 2007/early 2008, these buses make up the main workhorse of the ABQ RIDE fleet after replacing a fleet of 56 aging TMC RTS buses that were non-compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Plans have actually been in place to replace the RTS fleet since 2005; in 2006, ABQ RIDE joined the San Joaquin RTD Purchasing Consortium led by San Joaquin Regional Transit District to order Allison hybrid buses made by Gillig, initially planning to purchase 35 buses. However, since this wouldn't have been a one-for-one replacement of the entire RTS fleet, ABQ RIDE eventually dropped out of the consortium, choosing to tender out their own contract which New Flyer ultimately won.

These buses are powered by Cummins ISL engines paired with Allison E^P40 parallel hybrid propulsion systems. They are equipped with the latest in technology, including overhead DVD player screens, Digital Recorders Talking Bus annunciators, front TwinVision Chroma I partial multicolor destination signs, and GFI Genfare Odyssey validating fareboxes.

The newer 900-series buses (built 2009) are nearly identical to these buses, except for a few minor differences (most notably a side vent near the engine which these buses lacks).

All 58 buses are based at the Daytona Transit Facility on the Albuquerque Westside alongside the 6400-series, 6600-series, and the 6900-series buses.
