The South Dade BRT Transitway begins operating next year after the completion delivery of the 60 2023-24 NFI XE60 NG 4-door (E23501-E23560), it will be the largest fleet of electric buses in operation in the USA.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2026. Unsure if the 2nd batch 2025 NFI XE60 2-door Configuration for South Dade routes will be delivered before the 2026 deadline completion date.

Article is paywalled, but the county was forced to drop the bond funding plan for the new facility due to massive backlash. They will try again for the bond funding in 2026, but it'll no doubt cause the South Dade facilities to be delayed.

So I'm hearing that there may be a moratorium in place on retiring any further buses. Not sure how long this will be in place, but whatever NABI 40's that are still running around - expect them to stick around a while longer.

And the entire transit system is still worse there in the entire Miami-Dade County. I spotted one 201xx Gillig BRT Plus CNG what was piggybacked by Orlando Lynx with the exuast missing

I’m not sure where are you guys getting that MDT piggybacked Orlando lynx with those gilligs, but it’s not true

23101 was spotted on TransSee - signed as Route 38 - during the AM/midday hours yesterday. However, I've been told it wasn't accepting passengers & likely was on the corridor doing an acceptance test run.

Something tells me that the production order will be significantly delayed due to the developments with the South Dade facility.

That's correct and part of the Leading Orlando LYNX Purchasing Consortium deal offered by Gillig.

Yeah, one of my Thursday morning flight from the Caribbean flew past the new 4th EV Bus Facility right next to the Homestead Air Reserve Base. Unsure if the entire foundation has layout there during the construction project with the building materials there.

That would make sense, as that would have been the final batch of buses procured under that contract before JTA became the lead agency for the consortium. I believe that shift occurred in late 2020/early 2021.

I've long heard that the reason why Miami-Dade went with the mix of New Flyer & Gillig units for 2019 & 2020 was because New Flyer couldn't get their buses out the door quick enough.

2 pilot rare 4-door XE60s were testing on the busway few weeks ago. Photo credit belongs to the orginal owner. Used with permission. The interior looks different from the rest of MDT buses and the rear wheel covers were missing including bike racks and no middle door for the right side

Yeap that was the exact reason why they splitter the order between the two of them and they changed the specs because the 20series Newflyers were supposed to come with the Voith Transmissions as well
