History

In April 2000, Omnitrans took delivery of 44 new CNG New Flyer low-floor buses, with a combination of federal, state, and AQMD funding used for that purchase.[1] This second batch of New Flyer C40LF buses were supposed to be numbered 0050-0076; however, due to them being built and delivered after 2000 (February-March 2001), the fleet numbers had to be changed as a result.[2]

This series (alongside the earlier 2000 units) were originally built with Cummins C8.3G engines and ran on CNG fuel; they were later repowered with John Deere CNG engines sometime midway through their service lives and were converted to LCNG (aka un-odorized CNG). All buses were initially painted in the old 1997 pink and blue Omnitrans livery and were later repainted in the 2012 blue and green Omnitrans livery.

The first few units were replaced with the 2015-2016 New Flyer XN40 buses, while the vast majority were later retired by the 2019 New Flyer XN40 buses.
