Leamington Transit is the transit system serving the Municipality of Leamington, Ontario and is the southernmost transit system in Canada. It operates one route year round from 7AM to 7PM. Operation is contracted to Switzer-Carty Transportation

History

  • C.A. Bailey Ltd operated the transit service from December 29, 1980 until August 1, 2014.
  • A new transit service between Windsor and Leamington launches on July 8, 2019. The four-year pilot project will connect the towns of Windsor, Essex, Kingsville, and Leamington.
  • On May 2, 2022, Leamington Transit transitioned from a fixed-route system to an On-Demand service model and is rebranded as "LTGO". Service hours are expanded to operate between 6:00am to 9:30pm from Monday-Friday and 7:00am to 9:30pm on Saturdays, from the existing 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday-Saturday service hours. New Sunday and Holiday service introduced between Victoria Day and Labour Day operating between 6:30am and 9:30pm. As a result of these service improvements, fares are increased. Now, children under 12 ride free with an accompanying fare-paying adult.
  • The LTW (Leamington to Windsor) Transit pilot project service is extended for another two years to March 31, 2025.

Routes

LTGO, an On-Demand transit service model, serves the Municipality of Leamington. The On-Demand service, which operates between 6:00am to 9:30pm on weekdays, and 7:00am and 9:30pm on Saturdays, will provide customers a direct point A to point B service between any of the 117 transit stops within Leamington. Customers must book a ride using the smartphone app to use the service.

LTW (Leamington to Windsor) Transit is a fixed-route bus that travels between Windsor and Leamington, and connects with the towns of Kingsville and Essex. Three daily round trips operate on weekdays and two round trips operate on Saturdays. No service is provided on Sundays.

Former

Until June 1, 2012, Leamington Transit operated one "Regular Route" which was a large one-way loop of the town. It operated Monday to Saturday from 9AM to 5PM. On Fridays from 5PM to 7PM and on Saturdays from 9AM to 6PM in the months of July and August only, two special routes (Erie/Danforth and Sherk/Erie) would operate from the Marina. The Regular Route would be replaced by these routes on Saturday.

After June 1, 2012, the Regular Route was modified to have a more direct, linear route with service in both directions for the most part. The route also replaced the special routes that operated from the Marina. See link for map and schedule). A new schedule was also introduced and service now operates Monday to Saturday from 7AM to 7PM.

A "Erie Summer Route" that runs along Erie Street between Wilkinson Drive and the Marina/Waterfront area operates Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from the Friday before Victoria Day up to and including Labour Day.
