9 Lakeshore is a conventional bus route operated by Grand River Transit. The route connects Conestoga Mall Terminal, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the University of Waterloo with the communities of Columbia, Lakeshore, Lakeshore North, and Conestoga; most of them dominated by student housing.

Route 91 Late Night Loop operates in replacement of the 9 after 1:00 AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, between Charles Street Transit Terminal, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Waterloo, and the Columbia and Lakeshore communities.

Route 9 is interlined with the following routes at the following times:

Route 13 at all times at the University of Waterloo.
Route 7C on Sundays at the Conestoga Mall Terminal.

As part of the 2013 Proposed Service Improvements Plan, weekday midday service was increased to every 15 minutes between University of Waterloo and Cedarbrae/Glen Forrest on September 2013. Sunday service was also increased from every hour to every 45 minutes.
