71 Melran was a conventional bus route operated by Grand River Transit. The route connected the intersection of Groh at Holiday Inn with the communities of Hespeler Village and East Hespeler.
Evening routing was modified to provide service on Winston Boulevard.
As part of the 2012 Proposed Service Improvements Plan, Sunday service was expanded to operate from 8:00am to 12:00am.
As part of the 2014 Service Plan, route 71 was merged with 51 Hespeler Road in April 2014. It is now numbered 51B.
