Canucktunes
CBC's Marketplace has exposed the blatent misrepresentation of airfares by some airline in a report that aired yesterday (the 27th of January). Apparently nobody has yet to reduce the fuel surcharges and tickets that were advertised for $199 were actually over $760 because of the various fees, taxes and surcharges. Argh ! I want high speed train service ! You can view this week Marketplace by clicking here and fast forwarding the video to 16:15. You can also read a report on the CBC site by clicking here. hl7534
Such extortionate fees and taxes make Canada one of the most expensive places to fly in and out of in the entire world. If anything, the price after taxes should be the fares that are advertised, as all of the taxes and fees usually add up to $100+ on a round-trip journey. Spot planes
I am all for BCAA's decision to advertise all inclusive air ticket price. If the oil industry is learning from the airlines industry, the gas price at the pump will be $0.40 per litre plus tax/fees.
