  1. There were a lot of buses (now I believe all or mostly all) retired that were painted into that scheme.
  2. I actually thought that the all green "economy" livery worked on the D40LFs, C40LFRs and 60BRTs very nicely but didn't ever look as good on the D40LFs or D60LFs. The NABI 60BRTs were great looking buses in my opinion. To this day they are tied with the MAN SG-310 (which looked great in the 1990s livery) as my favorite Valley Metro buses that I have ridden on.
  3. Are these 40 expansion buses or am I to take it that 40 C40LFRs will be replaced 1:1 by these buses?
  4. I think it was operated by ValuTrans / Total Transit. I happened to be at an event at the Washington Elementary School District transportation center (and unwittingly realized it was next to where ValuTrans has its buses now). I saw 2-3 D40LFRs still at the garage as well as several 68XX XD40s. What's odd is the new location of ValuTrans / Total Transit. The buses are now located at 12815 N 39th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85029 (major cross streets are 35th Ave. and Cactus). It's only 8 minutes (3.6 miles) away from the Phoenix - North bus garage (it seems with the routes it operates it should be closer to the Phoenix - West garage).
  5. I'd assume it's a QR code reader for an eventual mobile fare payment system.
  6. Transsee only shows 3 2007 D40LFs active in service. I'd guess by mid month (or the lend of the month at the latest) they'll all be retired.
  7. Transsee shows 5669 on route 39 N/B and 5670 on route 186 W/B currently.
  8. It seems to me that the new bid covers 5001-5240. I just find it premature (although possibly not) because 5001-5120 are 2014 models, 5121-5200 are 2015/2016, and 5201-5240 are 2017s. Unless Phoenix really dislikes the Gilligs and doesn't intend to keep them for 12 years.
  9. Wow. Didn’t realize the time was going to be up soon for the C40LFRs already.
  10. I've noticed the old sign format on the remaining D40LFs as well as scattered First Transit buses as well as the newest artics. What is very interesting is a C40LFR I saw on route 138 the other day that had the new sign format except it was displaying the sign for route 184.
  11. It appears all of the 2008 D60LFs are out of service. None are showing up active on TransSee.
  12. Transsee has the following in service as of today: 6540 6542 6543 6554 6556 6557 6560 6567 6570 6571 6575 6577 6579 6586 6588 6591 6592 The following may also still be in service as they have been tracked on transsee over the last few days (most last appearing on December 31 which was the last weekday): 6537 6547 6574 6576 6578 6580 6581 6582 6583 6585 6590 6593 6595 6596 So by my account there are 31 in service.
  13. I'm curious if they are standardizing the format across all divisions then.
  14. It seems like the Transdev - Phoenix and First Transit - Tempe (I'm not sure about other divisions) has updated the destination sign format. The new format seems to have the route number to the far left and then 2 lines for the destination. For example: 7 NORTH TO DEER VALLEY + 19TH AVE
  15. These seem to be coming in fast. It appears that the 6500s might all be retired by New Years.
  16. Per Transsee it appears 5645 - 5648 are currently in service. 5645 - 5647 at Phoenix - West and 5648 a Phoenix - North.
  17. I believe these will be used for the bus gates that they intend to set up on the site of the old Terminal 2.
  18. It does appear there is a 5644 as transsee had the following: 1: Vehicle 5644 on route 90-Dunlap Ave/Cave Creek Rd going ←67th Avenue aprchg 43rd Av on Olive Av Last seen 18:20:16
  19. I know the wikipedia.com fleet roster was killed by wikipedia (don't know why as other agencies can still have theirs) and the CPTDB wiki hasn't been updated in a while. As far as the new buses are concerned using transsee.ca and personal observations I have noticed the following. Phoenix's Gillig CNGs are fleet numbers 5121-5274 (for a total of 154 buses). Phoenix's Gillig Diesels are fleet numbers 5601-5643 (for a total of 43 buses) Phoenix's New Flyer XD60s are fleet numbers 8082 - 8127 (for a total of 46 buses). I assume that the Gillig total will eventially be (or is already) 200 buses so has anyone seen any CNG higher than 5274 or Diesel higher than 5643? I'd assume 5275 and 5644 and 5645 may exist? I also assume that there will eventually be (or is already) 50 XD60s so 8128, 8129, 8130, and 8131 either exist or are currently in the delivery process. As far as the RPTA is concerned it seems that the XN40s go from vehicle numbers 6811 - 6853. Has anyone seen any higher numbered XN40s in service? Any notes or further observations would be appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Where’s the wiki page that you are referring to? Wikipedia deleted the bus fleet page a few years ago (even though they allowed a fleet listing for most other transit agencies). The wiki on this site doesn’t appear to have been updated in a few years.
  21. Looks like the Transdev D40LFs are starting to go. Interestingly I saw C40FRs 6604 and 6610 in service on the 81N this afternoon.
  22. So today I saw 5635 on 138E and saw 6501 on 83N. I guess the delineation between First Transit and Transdev is either 5632 or 5633. Surprised that 6501 is still alive and kicking due to the fact that so many First Transit D40LFs have been retired.
  23. Anyone have any idea how many of these are coming?
  24. I know that at least bus 5272 is in service. According to transsee.ca the following buses are in service on the following routes in the high 5200 range: 1: Vehicle 5246 on route 60-Bethany Home Rd 3:22 ahead of 9:00:29PM. going ←83rd Avenue near Montebello/19th Av TC 2: Vehicle 5254 on route 50-Camelback Rd 0:35 ahead of 8:57:49PM. going →Scottsdale Rd near 12th St on Camelback Rd 3: Vehicle 5262 on route 28-Lower Buckeye Rd 1:21 ahead of 8:59:03PM. going ←75th Avenue near 63rd Av on Lower Buckeye Rd 4: Vehicle 5265 Waiting 32:09. on route 70-24th St/Glendale Ave 30:14 behind 8:25:39PM. going ←99th Ave near 99th Av on Glendale Av 5: Vehicle 5270 on route 83-83rd Ave 0:48 behind 8:56:52PM. going ↑Arrowhead Ctr near Arrowhead Mall North 6: Vehicle 5272 on route 3-Van Buren St 3:30 behind 8:52:48PM. going ←Avondale near 114th Av on Civic Center Dr As far as the 5600s I really don't know how many of them there are.
  25. I was surprised to see New Flyer D60LF 800 in service on Wednesday evening. How many D60LFs are still in service? Also, what is the reasoning for keeping the D60LFs around (while a lot of newer D40LFR, C40LFR, and NABI 40LFW buses have been retired)?
