  1. This is great to hear. For quite some time, I've been arguing that they should do the NE Line first as they would have an entire line capable of running 4-Car consists in the near future. Although the South Line is more in need of the extra capacity, the entire 201 Line would take much longer to convert than the 202.
  2. I also enjoy riding in them but I actually like the whining, it reminds me of the Tube cars used on the Jubilee line of the London Underground. The Jubilee Whine
  3. Does anyone have any more detailed information? I was just over at New Flyer's website and took notice of their new Xcelsior line. I'd fancy seeing those on Calgary streets!
  4. Actually, I think it's one of the best transit brandings around; it's odd when somebody doesn't call it the CTrain. If anything it's the LRT title that hasn't caught on. By current standards I wouldn't say it's tacky, rather quite the contrary. CTrain has much more to do with trains in Calgary than let's say VIVA has to do with busses in the York Region.
  5. At first I was thinking Charleswood or Collingwood but after looking at the shadows and noting that the picture was taken in the morning I'll have to go with the North Haven/Cambrian Heights/Highwood area.
  6. I'm a huge fan of shoulder-to-shoulder seating and for me this is a very welcomed change. I've been lucky to have the chance to travel on numerous metros around the world and the new seating arrangement works the best. It might not add that much extra capacity but it improves the standing environment and makes for much easier navigation. With the current knee-to-back and knee-to-knee arrangements the aisles are quite narrow and movement towards the doors can be difficult. If you were to look at where most people prefer to stand on crowded trains you'd see that they head towards the middle of the train where both the articulation is and the seating is already shoulder-to-shoulder. A few seats have to go but those can be replaced via flip-seats near the doors which can be deemed useable only during off-peak hours. Should-to-shoulder Bench on the Tube Aisle Width on Current U2s The extra width in the middle of the trains makes for a much more comfortable journey.
