  1. Thanks a lot for all the answers guys. gmnewlook... any luck finding that handbook?
  2. I briefly Google'd Hall-Scott. They were once owned by AC&F so I can see how their engines would be in CC&F counterparts but it says that HS never really made diesels and I'm noticing that some of the old CanCars were gasoline powered. Those TD-51's had to be diesels though... right? From what I'm reading, it doesn't look like they would've been around very long. After learning about the D700's rep, I'm really surprised we got over 20 years out of them.
  3. Yep! My dad worked at Flyer in the 80's and I remember him telling me that the spoiler was a space for the A/C. Still, as a youngin', I always thought there was some kind of funny muffler in that spoiler that gave the D800's that "howl" in its sound that the other Flyers didn't have. Of course, this was long before I knew about the difference in the transmissions and drivetrain layout - neither of which had anything to do with the spoiler but a lot to do with the sound.
  4. It seems like only the D40's with the black window trim are getting that new livery. I wonder, if they're going to do it to the older D40's, if they'll black out the window trim to match the colour. I think the Classics would look really good in that new colour scheme. I don't know why they haven't repainted them. Must be a money thing... right?
  5. Does anyone know what engine/transmission combo the CanCar TD-51's had? I can't find any information on them at all.And what about the Canadian Flxibles? Did they have Spicers or Allisons? My favourite bus is the Flyer D700. Winnipeg was the the last city to retire them (around 1990 I believe). They remind me of being a young child.
