Sound Transit 9000-9069 are Gillig C21D102N4 Phantom 40's acquired in 1999. All models are 40 feet in length with seating for 45 individuals. These buses are equipped with bike racks.
These are the first Gillig Phantoms delivered for use by Sound Transit, acquired by piggybacking Community Transit's Gillig order for 1999. Each bus in the series had a cost of around $291,483 1999 USD.
These buses are planned for retirement in 2012. These units are estimated to have a replacement value of $450,000 as of March 2010[1]. Of the fleet of 70 units, 38 are planned to be retired in 2011 and the balance in 2012[2].
All buses in this series are stored at the King County Metro Transit South Base.
