History
4053 was the first unit of the series to begin operations at Rutgers University, entering service in August 2019 at the start of the Fall 2019 semester. It is painted in a Rutgers livery matching the existing 2011 ElDorado Axess BRT buses.
In summer 2021, the other three buses (4050-4052) began preparations to transfer to the Rutgers fleet. Unlike 4053, these buses would not be repainted into a Rutgers livery. By September 2021, 4050 and 4052 were repainted white following the removal of the original CSI wrap (4052 also has front and rear axles repainted white), while 4051 was not repainted and retains the default white/black color scheme under the CSI wrap. These three buses initially did not have bike racks when entering service at Rutgers, but in 2022 they received new bike racks. Due to their lack of livery, these buses would often return to College of Staten Island for short periods as backup buses.
In August 2022, 4050 was wrapped with a pride flag scheme to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities (SJE) as well as 50+ years of LGBT organizations on campus[1].
