Rutgers University provides a shuttle service in its New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden campuses. It is the second-largest transit system in New Jersey (after NJ Transit) and one of the largest university transit systems in the US. The service is operated by First Transit.

History

  • Suburban Transit operated the service from 1961 until June 30, 2001.
  • Academy Bus Lines provided the bus service from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2011.
  • In November 2010, Rutgers awarded a 10-year contract for the operation of the shuttle system to First Transit which went into effect July 1, 2011. First Transit was selected because their bid was the lowest. The contract was renewed for 5 years in June 2021. [1][2]
