Mountain Metropolitan Transit 1685-1694 were 1993 Gillig Phantom 35' (35102TBS50) buses.

Unlike the earlier orders of Gillig Phantoms, they were ordered with the wheelchair lift in the front door, allowing fewer delays while loading and unloading wheelchair passengers. These buses were the first ones in the fleet to have a 102 inch width. Also, these buses (except 1685) had dual headlights instead of quad headlights.

Most, but not all, had an ad-wrap covering the rear of the bus. 1690 and 1694 had full ad-wraps covering the entire bus. 1690's ad-wrap was very special, as it presented art done by an art class from Madison Elementary School.

Only the last two digits were visible on the fleet number on the buses. For example, 1689 would be numbered 89. It is unknown why the fleet numbers were done this way.

Just like the newer buses, they were painted into the new livery after the name change in 2005. However, 1690 was not repainted in the new livery since the special ad-wrap was not removed.

The massive service cuts made in 2009 meant that the buses in this fleet were parked, along with most of the 1999 Phantoms. They were retired and put up for sale by March of that year. However, most did not sell.
