Springs Transit was renamed Mountain Metropolitan Transit in 2005 and provides bus service to Colorado Springs, CO.

FrontRange Express (FREX)

FrontRange Express is a bi-directional daily commuter service running between Colorado Springs, Monument and Denver. Service is provided by coaches in a distinct black motif with added passenger amenities such as high-back cushioned seats, luggage racks, reading lights, bike racks and free wireless internet[1].

FREX connects the Pikes Peak region with the Denver Metropolitan Area. It was introduced as a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) demonstration project in 2004[1].

Fare can be purchased online. Cash fare for seniors, children aged 6 to 11, students aged 12 to 18 and Medicare and disabled passengers can ride FREX with a 50% discount during off-peak times with valid identification[2].

FREX service operates Monday to Friday only.

Note that for northbound service, no pick-up service is offered at Arapahoe Park-n-Ride or 18th Street and California. Southbound service does not offer pick-up service at the Woodman Park-n-Ride or Cascade and Colorado stops.

On February 9, 2010, nine surplus FREX buses were sold to York County Transportation Authority in Pennslyvania for $1.44 million[3].

Ute Pass Express

Ute Pass Express is a commuter bus service running daily between Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Cascade, Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park and Divide. The service provides coaches with high-back cushioned seats, reading lights, cup holders, luggage racks, bike racks and free wireless internet[4].

The route runs along Highway 24 connecting communities along the highway with Mountain Metro fixed bus routes in the Pikes Peak Region and the FrontRange Express (FREX) service. Ute Pass Express was funded and introduced under the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) demonstration project. Service runs on weekdays only.
