Modesto Area Express 28356, 28358, 28360, 28362, 28364, 28366, 28368, 28370, 28372 were 1983 Gillig Phantom 35' (3596TA6V92) buses. They were originally delivered as Intercity Transit 20156, 20158, 20160, 20162, 20164, 20166, 20168, 20170 & 20172. They were re-branded, repainted and renumbered by 1990. They originally were powered by Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engines until refurbishment in 2001.
