Maple Grove Transit is the fixed route transit system of Maple Grove, MN.
Overview
Maple Grove Transit was established in June 1990 under MN state legislation which allowed suburban communities to "opt-out" of the main regional transit system operated by Metro Transit.
Maple Grove Transit currently operates five express routes with service to downtown Minneapolis from five park-n-ride locations. Additional express service is provided to the University of MN Minneapolis Campus. Two local routes are also operated in the Maple Grove area to provide midday return service and feeder service. ADA complementary paratransit service is provided by Metro Mobility, the regional paratransit provider.
Fares are collected as part of the regional fare system. See Twin Cities Metropolitan Area Transit Systems for more information.
Facilities
The Maple Grove Transit Station was constructed in 2003 and features a 924 stall parking deck, heated waiting area, restrooms, and other amenities. Four additional surface park-n-ride locations are also located in the Maple Grove area.
Fleet
Maple Grove Transit currently contracts with Metro Transit to operate it's express route fleet. Some of this fleet consists of Metro Transit buses which are in the Maple Grove Transit livery. Local/flex-route service is provided on a fleet of smaller body on chassis units operated by another contractor.
