Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority 1100-1189 were 1987 Neoplan USA AN440A/3 buses. They were originally built for SCRTD and transferred to LACMTA in April 1993. The buses had 3 axles, a single door, and suburban configurations. They were mostly intended for use on express routes, but some were found operating on local routes. Some units (notably 1141, 1167, and 1168) ran on clean air diesel and were retrofitted with a secondary exhaust pipe used as an early DPF system which was removed circa 1995.[1]

  • 11 units (including 1128 after LADOT) were bought by Scott Richards/Regional Transit Service. They were all eventually sold and or scrapped.
  • A few units were bought by New Century Transportation Inc. (Jerry Quint) in San Jose, CA. They were scrapped by Zacher's Auto Salvage of Harbor City, CA when the company was shut down in 2009.[4]
  • 1 unknown unit became Tourcoach T-60.[5]
  • 1 unit (possibly 1146) was eventually bought by a private owner in West Virginia. It was spotted in a Facebook Marketplace listing for a school bus in July 2019.[6]
